11/10 experience. We’ve been going to Wood nearly every single week/weekend since we discovered it a few months ago. We first went there for brunch out of curiousity. We were warmly greeted by Esther who quickly sat us and was incredibly attentive throughout the meal. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions. I forgot what we both had but it was delicious and so were the drinks. Since we had such a great brunch experience, we decided to stop in for dinner. Another amazing experience. Our server was also attentive and very kind. My card embarrassingly declined and then my silly drunk mind gave the server a store card and he was incredibly patient with me! I apologized profusely and he kept telling me I had nothing to be sorry for. The third time it was pretty busy so we sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by Esther again! She remembered us and even our drink orders. The owner also stopped by to check in, such a nice guy! The bartenders, Esther and Lex are both phenomenal. Not only do they make fantastic drinks, they are super friendly, attentive, and put in a lot of effort to make you feel comfortable! The bar was super clean and the restaurant itself was also very clean. The staff clearly care a lot about the place. I highly recommend Wood for all your brunch, dinner, and drinks. I personally recommend: the sidecar, espresso martini, shrimp ceviche, salmon toast, cheese board, KFC entree, wood’s burger, chateaubriand.

The menu also frequently changes and the chefs are so creative. It’s fun to see what new delicious dishes they’re cooking up each week!

Intimate dinner spot with great ambiance and an interesting menu. We went for a Sunday dinner to celebrate an anniversary, and this was the perfect place. Parking was difficult to find, but we did eventually find paid street parking a block away. Low lighting and cozy seating added to the ambiance. Service was great, though a bit slow. Food was cooked perfectly and we each really enjoyed our meals.

This is a cute restaurant/bar in Boystown, right on Halsted! Great brunch, but a small menu for entrees and they were out of two starters when we ate-the photos are the brunch entrees available. The service was great but disappointed that I didn’t find out about the auto 20% gratuity until after I already tipped on my own, doubling the tip amount–the drink prices are boarder line insane ($18 for a Bloody Mary).

Lots of tasty apps and some hit and miss entrees. The chicken and pasta were a little basic but still tasted great. All night happy hour on Tuesday for beer and wine is a real bonus.

Incredible menu that is constantly changing. Was recommended this restaurant by a coworker and we went here for our anniversary. We got champagne on the house and awesome service. Food was incredible, tasty, and our server (I forgot his name but he had glasses and worked 5/29/24 on the patio, was incredibly kind and friendly. Great recommendations. Loved the happy hour cocktails as well. We will be back!

Every time I come here I taste something utterly AMAZING. This time it was the shrimp in this pasta and the escargot. I want to describe exactly how amazing it was but the dishes change pretty frequently and everything is absolutely delicious. All the flavors of every dish compliment each other so well and just bring a sense of nostalgia with every bite. I make sure to come to Wood every time I’m back in town so anxiously waiting until my next visit!

Great atmosphere and food was amazing!

We ordered the charcuterie board and fried chicken to share among 4 and there was plenty of food to go around.

A great local joint!

I used to love this place for its great food and service. Over the past couple of years, I’ve come here for dinner, lunch, and brunch, but unfortunately, with each visit, I find myself liking it less and less.
Here is a dew of my reviews over the years:

First time here:
We ordered two starters four mains and two desserts, and I also ordered the Kwak beer.
All the food was great! The only let down was the White Chocolate Panna cotta (almost no flavor) and the fact that I stayed a little bit hungry.

Second time here:
I realized some dishes are not that great unfortunately, but after checking again about a week later it seems like the dishes I didn’t like are no longer on the menu .

Fourth time here:
Tried the brunch menu which was really good. Ordered an eggs benedict and a burger with some bourbon cocktail. The only problem I had was with the beignets dessert which were not beignets in any way.

20th (or so) time here :
It feels like the quality of the food here keeps declining with each visit. We ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was almost completely lacking in flavor, and the Mille Feuille, which was neither true to the classic dessert nor particularly good. Meanwhile, the prices keep going up – making the overall experience no longer worth it.

I cannot fault this bar/restaurant! I was lucky enough to visit 3x over a 2 week window and the service was perfect every single time. Staff were so friendly; they took time to chat during quieter periods, welcomed me by name after the first visit and made this out-of-towner (who isn’t normally a bar person) feel welcome every single time. I greatly appreciated the non-alcoholic drink range and the food was beautifully cooked each time. I will certainly be returning the next time I’m in the area.

We started coming to Wood about 5 years ago and every time it has been outstanding! We enjoy every minute here. Food is outstanding, great drinks, cozy atmosphere and last but not least – the team of people that make this all happen is just remarkable! It is a gem hidden in the Lakeview area of Chicago! If you are visiting or maybe just not as close to this area, I still highly recommend to take a trip to Wood Restaurant. Their menu is not stagnant as at some other places and the chef is not afraid experimenting. Last time he surprised us with Wild Sturgeon with Trout roe and kohlrabi with the pistachio pesto. It was creation to remember! Thank you, chef, for making the difference and Scott for the nice evening at Wood!
