I went to Virgil’s about 2weeks ago and forgot to leave my review but it was so good that I remember to come back to drop this review!

To start there were so many delicious looking/sounding items on the menu. I’m usually very picky and only identify with about 1 or 2 items on most menus but I honestly wanted to try just about everything on the menu. I didn’t though lol I settled on the Geechee pasta and I was not mad! Very flavorful and the shrimp was seasoned so well! My BF order the Salmon and it. Came with covered with Fried shrimp. I’m greedy so I tried one of his fried shrimp as well and OMG it was so juicy and flavorful. I think that next time I come I will be looking to get the fried shrimp.

Also the staff was really nice. Our waiter Patrick was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and honest with his recommendations. He was absolutely GREAT! They have a great happy hour drink menu and I would def suggest trying it out!!

10/10 would def reccomend and I will be back. No one paid me or gave me discounts for this review I just really loved the food, atmosphere, and staff!

Finally made it to Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen, and the wait was absolutely worth it. We started with the jumbo shrimp appetizer—six large shrimp, plenty to share, and the sauce was incredible. I had the fried seafood platter with oysters, a very tasty crab cake, and catfish, plus red rice that was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the chicken wings with a great sauce, along with collard greens and candied yams, and everything was excellent. Free parking, a really good overall experience. Our server, Xavier, did an outstanding job—especially impressive for his first day. Very attentive. They also offer a military discount, so I highly recommend this restaurant.

First impression visit at 5:30PM on a sunday.

Large black and white sign with a large front patio and balcony. Located in a suite next to Paloma.

There is a parking lot right next door. Not sure if you have to pay- I did not and my car was fine.

We got the deviled crab eggs, fried green ma’tis, afta church plate, smoth’ad poke chop, geechee pasta, fried fish, and the slammin salmon. An appitizer, two entrees, and 2 non-alcoholic drinks cost about $100.00 with tip.

Pros
Great food and great service. The food was hot, fresh, and seasoned to perfection.
The restaurant was able to accomdate my large party with alternative seating due to the loud music being played. I appreciate them acknowledging the problem and doing their best to help solve the issue.

Cons
As stated before, the music is very loud. Especially upstairs. This is not a chill dinner spot for family. More of a turn up spot with friends.

Would I Recommend: Yes, as a spot with music and good food. Not a spot for conversation.

Can get kind of loud. I attend after church and it was also SpelHouse Homecoming, so there was a little wait but no more than 20 mins. Food was seasoned good. The drinks definitely Hit, the DJ was doing her thang. I can’t complain one bit. Came after my kids baptism, sat on the balcony on a great warm Sunday October. I have not one complaint. Looking forward to visiting the College Park Main Street location next.

An Unforgettable Culinary Experience!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen & Bar, and let me tell you, the pork chop I didn’t know I needed stole the show! ️ The flavors were unmatched, showcasing a perfect blend of Southern charm and culinary excellence that left me craving more.

The energy and service from Kris and Montel were absolutely amazing! Their warmth and attentiveness made us feel right at home, and their recommendations really enhanced our experience.

After landing in Atlanta, we couldn’t have asked for a better welcome than a delicious meal and refreshing cocktails that truly set the stage for our week ahead. ✈️

If you’re looking for a vibrant atmosphere, mouthwatering dishes, and top-notch service, look no further than Virgil’s. I can’t wait to return!

Tonight was my first time visiting this location. I have loved Virgil’s since they were on Main Street in College Park. Imagine how excited I was to learn that there was a new location in Conyers… about 15 minutes away from where I live. I’ve been going there for a little over year or so even though it just doesn’t feel like the Virgil’s I remembered. Today I decided to drive 45 minutes to the West Midtown location as it’s been on my list for a minute.

I think I will have to take that 45 minute drive from now on when I’m craving some Gullah Geechee because not only was the service 1000% better, the food tasted 1000% better, too. Thank you Montell and Patrick (I hope I spelled your names right). I can’t wait to go back.

8/10/25 We were a group of 9 and it was after 9pm on a Sunday night. We were seated quickly and the waitress came immediately when we were seated to take our drink order. We the ambiance is a bar atmosphere that openly allow smoking and drinking therefore I would not recommend for parties with children. The music was very loud and somewhat vulgar. In our party we did have kids and only stayed because we were visiting from Chicago and didn’t have any other meal options for this time of night. Lets get to the food!!! We ordered the 2 after church plates, 1 smothered chicken dinner, 1?flounder and grits, 2 Jamin wings, corn muffins, the pasta with shrimp a side of macaroni and 3 extra wings. For this hour of the night and so close to closing (11pm)the food was surprisingly hot! The food presentation was nicely done. The fried chicken was nice and crispy, though not enough sauce for anyone in the party and it lacked flavorful seasoning. The collared greens were too salty for everyone and the sweet potato were not sweet to anyone although they had brown sugar sprinkled on top. The macaroni and cheese was dry and tasteless. The flounder and grits were delicious. The flounder was a nice portion size, light and crispy. The smother chicken was well seasoned and tender and the gravy with jasmine rice was good as well. The cabbage was a little tough and greasy but still enjoyable. The corn muffins were sweet and delicious and I loved the drizzle on them. The pasta and shrimp was hands down delicious! The shrimp were huge and the creaminess was perfect. The sweet tea was very sweet, the first glass of coke was weak and flat however the refills were on point. The bill for 7 entrees a side of mac and cheese, three wings and corn muffins came out to $277 which included an automatic 20% gratuity. I have to say that although I wasn’t over the moon in love with all of the food I would revisit this establishment at an earlier time and because the staff was good. I also would recommend this place because I think the good out weighs the bad.

This restaurant is a whole vibe. The service, the waitstaff, the music. And then, of course, the food were off the chain! All the music played added to your conversation and the delicious food. I had the stuffed salmon, i tried the wings from the aftuh chuch platter omg good. The catfish bites melted in your mouth! The soulfood egg roll…stop, my back grew even bigger!! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We went for a birthday dinner and no one left disappointed! I cannot wait to go back!

I went to Virgil’s with a group of 9 people. We had a reservation for 11:30, and when we arrived, we were seated right away. Zachary was our server, and he was awesome. He didn’t take long to come over and greet us. He started by taking our drink and appetizer orders. We orderd a bunch of different appetizers and drinks. For starters, we ordered the bussin’ corn muffins, fried green tomatoes, Gullah eggrolls, and the Sol-E-Gre crab cakes, which we shared. Everything came out quickly, fresh, and hot. My favorites were the corn muffins and the crab cakes.

Zachary took our entree orders. We all picked different things. I went with the skrimp n’ grits with crab, and I had the gravy on the side. It was really good, and I was able to take some home. Since there were so many of us, the gratuity (20%) was already included. I also liked that we could pay separately, which was a big plus for a group that size. Overall, the visit to Virgil’s was great. I look forward to visiting again in the future. If you’re in the area or looking for a spot to eat, definitely check them out!
