Best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Have been several times and the food is beyond superlatives. The steak and sweet potato fry dish in the picture is my favorite and probably the best. The mushroom and rice noodle dish pictured second. The chicken with yellow curry is the best yellow curry dish I’ve eaten anywhere. Best bahn mi. Spring rolls are outstanding. Thought the passion fruit cheesecake was interesting but maybe a little overrated, liked the vanilla ice cream dessert more.

Great service too with a very friendly and attentive manager and love the atmosphere.

Why a place like this would be in Zurich of all places is a mystery but they have expanded (the other location we’ve also eaten at several times but it’s slightly not as good) and now they have a more upscale place near the Bahnhofstrasse which we hope to try but it’s fully booked.

After enjoying a delightful bowl of ramen for lunch yesterday, I felt inspired to explore another facet of Asian cuisine. I initially set my sights on finding a Malaysian restaurant, but to my surprise, there were very few options in Zurich. Most of the highly-rated establishments opened at 5 PM, which didn’t fit into my lunchtime schedule. Undeterred, I shifted my focus to Chinese restaurants. However, after browsing through more than ten different places, I still couldn’t find one that piqued my interest.

It was then that I broadened my search to encompass all Asian restaurants, and that’s when I stumbled upon Co Chin Chin. It was a 37-minute walk from my hotel, but my determination to try a steaming bowl of Vietnamese chicken broth soup noodles propelled me forward.

Upon my arrival, I noticed the restaurant was bustling with activity. The hostess kindly informed me that they were fully booked but graciously offered to make space for me. This warm gesture was a lovely touch and set a positive tone for my visit. Being solo, I was limited in my ordering, so I opted for the steamed rice roll with pork, along with a bowl of “canh miến gà”, an aromatic Vietnamese chicken soup with glass noodles.

Both dishes were bursting with flavor and offered the comforting warmth I craved on a chilly day. The two servers attending to my area were not only friendly but also spoke excellent English, making it easy to communicate. They were refreshingly unpretentious and clearly hard-working, which added to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.

When I inquired about Fanta orange, one of the servers (who appeared to be Vietnamese) told me it wasn’t on the menu, but they kept some for staff members. To my delight, she offered me a bottle of Fanta. That small act of “love”❤️ truly won me over.

Kudos to the owner of Co Chin Chin for fostering such an impressive team! It’s evident that great service matters just as much as delicious food in sustaining a restaurant’s success. I definitely look forward to returning for another memorable meal.

TLDR: Highly recommend coming to this restaurant.

We have been to both locations in Zurich several times and it always delivers! Dishes taste great and authentic, waiters are friendly (though a bit slow), interior design matches the vibe, and quality remains consistently high over time and across locations.

We ordered for 2 people at lunch:
– Cua Rang Me (soft-shell crabs)
– Pho Bo with Beef Filet and Marrow
– Rau Muong (water spinach)

The restaurant has a great atmosphere from the beautiful interior design and friendly staff which is great. The reason as to why only 3 stars were given is because we found the food to be bland and not authentic. However most likely the Vietnamese cuisine has been adapted to fit the local palette.

This was my bday dinner and we’ve couldn’t have chosen better for that evening.
The food was served beautifully, full of flavours and freshness. I opted for soup, even though it was a warm evening. My partner had a beef rice dish and we shared a rice pancake for starter and a side of spinach. The flavours were well balanced and left me with the notion of having to come back again. To top up the good experience, the food was served quickly and the staff was friendly and attentive.

We got the beef pho, egg rolls (spring rolls), the stir fried tofu clay pot with he-flowers, soft shell crab with tamarind, and three iced Vietnamese coffees. The pho was good, the meat was tender in it, and you can taste the seasonings in it. The egg rolls were delicious, nice and crispy. The tofu pot was excellent, but it was very bean sprout heavy and had only a few tofu chunks. The soft shelled crab was greasy but tasty. The coffees were nicely strong but we personally could’ve had a tad bit more of condensed milk for our taste. The waiter was very nice and helpful. In conclusion, it was a very enjoyable meal in a quiet neighborhood, and we would recommend as it’s one of the more authentic Asian restaurants we’ve had in Europe thus far.
