(I just hate how you couldn’t wash your hands anywhere. If anything have some wet naps available for customers, easy fix.)
Friendly staff.
Definitely a fun and unique place!
The guy who took my order was genuinely kind, did not rush me, and very graciously let me use the bathroom, which, in my view, establishes good character evidence right out of the gate. Service matters, and they nailed it.
Now to the merits. The Vienna hot dogs were phenomenal. Truly. They had that perfect snap and flavor that makes you remember why Chicago does not mess around with its hot dogs. And yes, I am going to say it: there was a nostalgic hint of that legendary Home Depot hot dog energy from back in the day. You know the era. I say that with a raised eyebrow and then immediately move on to the mustard.
The fries were delicious and a little crispy, exactly as the statute requires. The fried mushrooms were good. The hot dogs were beyond amazing and everything you hope for in a Chicago dog. Huge menu, really nice staff, quick service, and a massive parking lot, which in this city feels like winning a small zoning variance.
Also, Pepsi instead of Coke, which I personally consider a feature, not a bug.
If you have not been to Wolfy’s, you should correct that oversight immediately. It makes a very strong case for itself.
The guy at the counter was super friendly and the service was accurate and quick. The hot dogs were very good, with my only criticism that the poppy seed bun fell apart. The price was comparable to other hot dog joints or maybe even a little more reasonable. Kudos for their excellent selection of Dr. Brown’s canned sodas.
It’s a shame they no longer give out the hot dog-shaped gum – apparently they haven’t done so in more than a decade. Love the wall decor – hot dog parodies of famous paintings. The parking lot is terrible – way too tight and only one entrance/exit. Just our luck – a car accident was practically blocking the entrance to the lot and the two cars were still there when we left.
Known for their signature style Chicago style, hot dogs, Chicago style, Italian beef, Many of their signature menu items can be gotten as a combo which comes with fries and a drink. The drink options are sort of limited for fountain drinks, but they do also have a variety of canned drink options and many dessert options. If you like hotdog Italian beef or any of the Chicago style signature dishes, Wolfy’s is a must try but it’s very nostalgic retro Chicago diner theme
It’s kind of funny, funny side story after picking this place. My dad told me that’s actually where our parents met so it was fun little factoid, knowing your parents kind of met at this hotdog stand kind of cool to visit it after the fact without really knowing that detail, When I was younger, I used to walk down to this Wolfie’s all the time when there was a Harley dealership on Western and my father worked there we would go and get lunch for the guys that worked at the Harley dealership.
The entire restaurant was very clean, even the bathrooms. It’s unfortunate that they don’t have a military discount…..
Vienna products used here, which is the only way to go if you’re in Chicago.
Tried their dog and a beef here and got pretty much what I expected.
A chicago style hot dog complete with the snap on a poppyseed bun.
Dipped beef sandwich topped with sweet peppers. A very beefy taste to it, despite it being dipped, it wasn’t incredibly messy either.
Fries were size and shape similar to those at McDonalds and nothing to write home about.
I liked the atmosphere and set up here, I also like the signage outside. The food was good, but nothing really blew me away. Averaging everything up to 4 stars. A likeable establishment.
I got a cheese burger with fries, and shared a dipped beef sandwich with peppers, enjoyed a few nuggets. To say they’re better than your fast food place would be insulting to the quality wolfys puts into their food.
