Vanessa was our waiterres and knew exactly what I trying to order…the Hamburger with the Pineapple is called The Maui Wow-Wee burger and it’s pretty darn good!
Terri ordered the Blackened Chicken and surprisingly thought it wasn’t spicy enough! We both thought it’d been delicious with a slice of pineapple on it as well. It wasn’t a bad sandwich by any means but just missed for her.
We also ordered up some of the Dog Bites as I really wanted to try some variation of their famous hot dog…very good served up with some sort of a mayo/mustard dipping sauce.
Very casual place and dog friendly…love it!

Food is consistently good at every Old Salty Dog I’ve been to. We popped in to meet friends to watch a game. There were plenty of bar seats available. Cocktails were well made. Service was great. Parking is typically available but may be more challenging in season. Overall great beach vibe.

Wow!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED????. We came here a couple times last time we were in siesta key. We were all excited to eat here. NOT the same. The waitress struggled to offer to take our order after we ordered drinks and an appetizer. We were never once offered any refills on our pop, there were only about 5 or 6 other tables with customers so it was not very busy. We ordered two burgers and an original salty dog and a loaded salty dog. The hot dogs had absolutely no taste. Last time we came we had left a 5 star review. The original was fried so hard that the batter was absolutly rock hard. The loaded had the tiniest amount of grilled onion and saurkrut hidden under the dog which is stange because the whole thing tasted like nothing but burnt greasy onions. There are so many amazing places to eat here. Would not suggest spending $90 on a couple dogs and burgers that were not very good.

The Old Salty Dog Siesta Key: A Mixed Bag, But Worth a Visit!
Our recent trip to The Old Salty Dog on Siesta Key offered a bit of a mixed experience, but overall, it’s a place we’d consider visiting again, especially if you have a furry friend!

First and foremost, it’s a wonderfully dog-friendly place, which is a huge plus for pet owners. They were very welcoming to our dog, making it easy and enjoyable to dine out with our companion. The relaxed, casual atmosphere is perfect for a laid-back meal by the water.

Now, for the food. I decided to be adventurous and ordered their signature dish, the “Salty Dog.” Unfortunately, I really did not like it. It just wasn’t to my personal taste, and I found it quite overwhelming. However, this is where the “mixed bag” comes in: my family ordered other dishes that were great! They enjoyed their meals thoroughly, with everything from seafood to other pub-style fare receiving high marks. This suggests that while my particular choice wasn’t a hit, the kitchen is certainly capable of producing delicious food.

So, while I might steer clear of the “Salty Dog” next time, the positive experience of dining with our dog and the enjoyment my family had with their meals means we’d still recommend The Old Salty Dog Siesta Key. Just be sure to explore their menu beyond the namesake dish!

Popular spot when we visited with friends for an early dinner on a Tuesday in late February. The main dining area inside can be breezy and acoustically very loud so we opted to head upstairs for the warmer, quieter bar area to be able to have a conversation. Appreciated their specials in addition to their varied menu. We enjoyed the Southwest salad special and Firecracker Wrap menu item (both were large portions so we enjoyed for another meal), and the Grouper Reubens were gobbled up.
Note: our bartender informed us that in the winter the main dining is colder and the bar is warm, during the summer the bar area is frigid and main dining is more comfortable.

Our food was very good! Fish tacos, chicken wrap with boom boom sauce (highly recommend) and chicken tacos for my picky daughter that came out wrong 2x – one time it had sauce on them and 2nd try they put cabbage on them -so she ended up not eating at all.

Visited mid August. Was a hot day but there was plenty of air movement on the covered patio. The beer was cold. Great locally brewed hazy IPA. The hush puppies and shrimp were freshly fried, hot and crispy. What more could you want?

I LOVE that we could bring our dog with us (patio dining and it was perfect!) Service was great. Mixed thoughts on the food. The wonton tacos were AWESOME, but very small portion for the price. Grilled mahi had no flavor and was a bit dry. The chili (not pictured) had too much chili power added which made it overly salty.

Another little local gem just North of Siesta Key village by about a block. It turned out to be one those (If you know then you know) places. Food was really delicious and portions size was tremendous. Staff where all very friendly. The place appears to be way bigger on the inside then it looks on the outside. It also sports one of the longest bars that I’ve seen in the whole village. We were very impressed with the atmosphere and the personaliized decore. It gives the restaurant a special and unique identity. Anthony was our server and he was friendly and efficient had our drinks to us very quickly and the food followed soon after. Very fast service. I tried the Loaded Salty Dog (one of their signature dishes) I have to tell you that was the biggest and I dare say probably the best hot dog I have ever had. Meat was jucy and delicious not something you find everywhere. This dog was loaded down with 3 types of cheese and Sautéed onions and mushrooms as well as crisp sourkrut. The hot dog nearly won. I.almost couldn’t finish it. They claimed it was a quarter pound dog, the whole sandwich likely weighted in at 1 and 1/4 pounds.. Be really hungry if you order this monster…but if you can’t finish it (Henry thier mascot maybe standing by literally to help you clean up.) Heather sampled the Grilled Shrimp Tacos and they where also pretty large and she found them wonderfully flavorful. The Beer I ordered was a locally brewed Draft and it was cold crisp and really hit the spot. Heather sampled one of their special house made Margaritas and it was delicious but stout…they didn’t skimp on the tequila that’s for sure. So if you haven’t tried this place I strongly recommend it. We will be trying more of their fine cuisine on our next visit. Very glad we stopped in today.
