No worries though—just eat your sorrows away at City View Diner. I ordered pancakes because… pancakeholic. The prices were reasonable until the pancakes arrived and I realized they were the size of my FACE. I’m talking full-face coverage.
My waitress was super sweet and then had the audacity (in the best way) to say, “The pancakes come with tea or coffee.” Excuse me?? Emotional support pancakes AND tea??
1000/10. Snowstorm cured. Would definitely bury myself in these pancakes again. ❄️

Had the southern fried chicken and fish and chips. Dinners included large bowl of soup and a large salad. Prices are reasonable and portions are large! We took half of our dinners home. Everything was well prepared. Our waitress was very nice.

My husband and I had breakfast at City View Diner on Tuesday, 2/17 (check #237484, paid at 9:20 AM).
My husband ordered two chocolate chip pancakes. After only a few bites, he bit into a large, thick string/twine object — about 8 inches long — baked directly into the pancake. As he pulled it out, it was clearly woven throughout and tore the pancake open. It appeared there may have been more inside.
We waited to get our waitress’s attention (the diner was not busy; we arrived around 8AM and only a few tables were occupied). We showed her the string, and she asked if he wanted a new plate. Of course he said yes, as he had barely eaten any of it.
I noticed some green objects floating in my water, possibly from a dirty glass. I felt that mentioning something else to the waitress would cause more issues.
I finished my meal while he waited. When the new pancakes were dropped off, there was no apology and no utensils, just “enjoy” as she walked away. After waiting several more minutes, he had to get up and ask another employee for silverware. That employee laughed and said, “Sorry, I was playing solitaire on my phone.”
When the check came, the original short stack was still on the bill. We waited about 10 minutes for her to return, but she didn’t. We went to the register and politely asked if the contaminated pancakes could be removed. We were told no because she “would get in trouble with the owner.”
We were kind and patient the entire time, still left a tip.
Mistakes happen. But the complete lack of apology, accountability, and hospitality is why we will not be returning or recommending to family or friends. At minimum, a simple “sorry about that” or removing the inedible pancakes from the bill after we kindly asked, would have prevented this review.
I grew up coming here for over 20 years. It’s disappointing that customer safety and hospitality appear to not be as important as profit. My husband’s 2 chocolate chip pancakes (short stack) were $8 by themselves. We should have stayed home for breakfast.

Service could be better depending what time you show up. The meal looked pretty but the beans in the huevos ranchero was looking a little watery. But everything tasted fine. The lemonade tasted a little off , perhaps the filter needed to be changed

As I was sitting in the diner this morning enjoying my breakfast, I thought to myself, “I have to rate them five stars!”
This is both my sister’s and my personal favorite spot to visit. It’s always clean, cozy, and gives that homey feel. The customer service is excellent, and I never have to wait long for my food — which you can tell is cooked with love.

Always a hit for breakfast. Standard items with some unique offerings as well. Our group enjoyed French toast, pancakes, eggs, etc. Lovely waitress. The interior seems to have been redone and was clean.
