Our company of nine stopped by Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que in Reno and was immediately impressed by how fast the food came out – lightning quick! The atmosphere was very cool with an authentic BBQ vibe. Personally – loved the wall decor and the spacious layout with a variety of diff seating styles that made the place feel comfortable and welcoming.

Service was another highlight – staff were attentive, friendly, and made the visit pleasant overall. As for the BBQ itself, it was fine but didn’t quite stand out, especially given how fast it arrived. It felt like there’s still room for improvement in terms of flavor and overall impact. Although the variety and price range should covers it all.

That said, the whole group enjoyed the experience enough to come back the next time we all in Reno. Solid spot with great potential.

Great Food, great drinks, great place for Date Night or Take out Date Night. My server at the bar was a beautiful girl named Elizabeth who provided the best service. She changed the empty Coors Light Keg for us and made sure we were happy throughout our stay.
I highly recommend Famous Dave’s.

Service & Atmosphere were good. Food was middling, nothing to write home about. Honestly I make much better at home. Pork was very dry and the BBQ that came with it triggered a gag reflex. Think they put apple in their BBQ, which is a definite no for me. Brisket was also very dry. Sweetwater Catfish Fingers seemed a little bland. Collard greens definitely were amazing though. I wanted seconds on those. All in all it’s not bad for the price but I wont be going out of my way for it again. Just tried it to say I tried it.

Local BBQ chain. Has excellent food and good values. Some items are pricey but for the most part very reasonable. Especially lunch and happy hour specials. Daniel did a great job getting my take out order setup and ready to go within 10 to 15 minutes of me ordering it.

We had the 2 Meat Lunch Combo for $14. Texas beef brisket + $1, Sweetwater catfish fingers. 1 Side: Grilled pineapple and the cornbread muffin. And they had a Braille menu, for my blind friend! Plus, our waiter was very considerate, explaining everything as he was setting it down, or refilling drinks, so they could be found.
The slices of brisket were delicious, very tender and juicy. They already had some sauce on them. And I did not need to add more, although I’m usually an “extra BBQ sauce” person. The catfish fingers were lightly breaded, about 4 inches long and about an inch wide. I’m most often used to lots of crispy breading that immediately falls off, leaving you with naked catfish. But these fingers were better than that! The breading held on, was nicely flavored, and a perfect proportion on the fingers! There, but not overly thick. You can taste the fish, not just the breading! Served with a wedge of lemon, and a tasty dipping sauce, not your usual white tartar sauce. I can’t quite describe it, but very tasty, not to acidy, and a slightly smokey color. I loved it! I asked for my grilled pineapple to be extra grilled. So I got tasty maillard reaction grill marks, and the sweet, slightly acid flavor pineapple, that was a great counterpoint to the brisket and catfish. The warm cornbread muffin in a paper liner was the right combination of corn flavor and tender texture. I would have personally wished for a larger muffin, but did not need any butter or honey. I drank water, but would normally have had something from their signature cocktail menu at $10.50, or a draft beer or wine. And I definitely wanted to have the Down Home banana pudding $8.50, or their Famous Dave’s bread pudding $9.50. But it was lunch time and we were on our way shopping, so no time. I’ll come back another time for dessert. They have a separate bar area, or a private dining room for groups of up to about 30, they call The Cabin. The main dining room has a tall stone fireplace in the center of the room, fire visible from both sides. The booths were comfortable. Also tables for 4, or a few with swing up edges to make round tables for (6?) A roll of paper towels, and wet wipes for your sticky fingers! Fairly quiet at 1:45pm on a Friday afternoon! I’ll come here again!!

Everyone was so friendly and the food was fantastic. I was in the mood for some comfort food and this did the trick! Got the pulled bbq sandwich with a side of beans. Meat was cooked perfectly, the bun was soft, and the sauce was perfect. Enjoyed bread pudding for desert. Quite possibly the best bread pudding I’ve ever had – or at least in the top 3. Incredibly tasty. I was having a rough day but I left here feeling much better!

Stopped here for lunch today and we were not disappointed! The three table side sauces were all very unique in flavor and each added their own spin on the flavor. Brisket nachos were delicious! Last but not least the Feast for 2 is exactly as described. Super delicious and worth the money. Plenty to take home for dinner as well! Win win.

I traveled 2700 miles and wanted some bbq. I wish I had stayed home. Service was amazing. The place is cool. Brisket was not good tuff didn’t seem cooked today. Mac cheese no flavor. Chicken not great. Fries and corn muffin I enjoyed. I’ll try another BBQ place next time.

For my first time coming to famous Dave’s barbecue I was blown away with how good the food was. For finding out that it was a chain restaurant the food tasted authentic as could be Great smoky flavor on a different variety of meats Great tasting sauce. What a very cheerful vibrant staff you have working at this location everyone was very attentive and to checking in on us in our table making sure we were okay. Ended up ordering the pork belly burnt ends with a side of fries. Wow burnt ends were meaty and fatty and buttery perfect consistency coated in a sweet BBQ sauce. An order of the BBQ potato skins those were hella good great smoky taste to the meat and the potato itself was huge great portions too ranch was hella fire! Did an order of the 1 lb rib tips also really tasty very meaty minimal fat. I was very satisfied with my first time visit here and when I’m in the area I will definitely be back to try different items off of their menu. The portions here were huge I had to take a bunch of food home with me but was worth it because everything was so good. By the way the hellfire pickles as a side to their dishes were crazy good just the right spice I could eat a bowl of them on its own. Keep up the great work!!
