We’ve visited Moonshine for both regular dining and the Sunday brunch buffet, and both experiences were excellent! I highly recommend getting reservations if you plan on doing the brunch; this seems to be the most popular meal they offer! The price for the buffet is definitely worth it in my opinion. It’s very affordable and there are so many delicious food options! Plus our kids were half price! As it goes with most buffets, some items taste better than others. But there’s so many great comfort foods to choose from, you won’t go hungry! Some favorites from our table included the pretzel bread and cheese dip, ham slices, breakfast tacos, chicken & waffles, cinnamon rolls, French toast, French onion soup, skillet potatoes and the baked macaroni! Plus they offer a full table of fresh fruit and desserts! When we came for lunch I had the Hoss’ Hot Chicken Sandwich, and it was great! The staff has always been friendly and attentive. We will for sure dine here again!

This place is the literal best. The manager Rose bought Girl Scout cookies and shared them with some customers.

Chicken fried steak was fantastic!

Definitely coming back!

This place is an underrated gem in North Austin and offers delicious food and a festive atmosphere at a reasonable price. It offers class, convenience, and traditional southern food with a modern edge. The Hoss’ hot chicken sandwich is the best fried chicken sandwich that I’ve ever had anywhere and is very reasonable at $16, as it would easily be more than $30 at a different restaurant downtown. I keep coming back for this sandwich and always substitute the fries with the honey sweet potatoes on the side. The fajita salad and the biscuits are also absolutely delicious. We often order the biscuits with our dinner and save the leftovers for breakfast the next day- they are incredibly soft and the peach marmalade is amazing. I would pass on the chicken fried steak and the hanger steak here, but the other options are so good that it outweighs these two. The Sunday brunch is a fantastic way to sample so much of the menu and is the best breakfast by far in North Austin. The beignets, cornflake chicken, and brussel sprouts all were wonderful. Not to mention the parking is convenient here and there rarely is a wait for a booth.

Waitstaff cordial, attentive and welcoming. Menu certainly sounded good but the food is unremarkable especially for the price. crispy brussel sprouts, weren’t. garlic mash potatoes had only a hint of garlic. the blackened catfish while cooked well, was sadly seasoned. the chicken almondine, also well cooked had only that going for it. We just expected flavorful southern food and i guess all we got was food that looked good on a plate in a magnolia themed dining room, but not an interesting or memorable meal.

We went there for Sundays’ brunch buffet. The food was great, delicious, and with a lot verity. The only thing that I didn’t like was their waffles.
Coffee could also have been a little stronger.

The food here is consistently good. Is it amazing?, probably not… However the execution is always on point and consistent. The shrimp for the shrimp and grits was definitely cooked perfectly, it wasn’t overcooked and it wasn’t undercooked it had the chewiness and sweetness of the shrimp. The catfish and crawfish tasted very good and we definitely enjoyed the roasted romaine lettuce. The drinks here are strong and actually very good so definitely order the different drinks with your dinner. The ambiance at this place gives a level of sophistication with comfort that really lends itself to the area.

Logan the bartender was absolutely amazing! Very nice, attentive, and made our experience so special. We were chatting about my upcoming birthday, and he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He let us know about the brunch (which I LOVE!) and even surprised me with a birthday dessert to celebrate my birthday month. Us girlies take our birthday month seriously, and Logan totally got it!

Brunch here is to die for, and thanks to Logan’s great service, I’ll definitely be back again and again. Highly recommend asking for him!

Moonshine is sort of a comfort food/southern cooking style restaurant. There’s also a bar here which I did not go to. Everything they had was good, probably my favorite thing was the brussels sprouts on the appetizer menu. Instead of chips or bread, they serve popcorn, which is quite good, and they also brought out a small order of cornbread, which was excellent. It reminds me a lot of Hyde Park bar and Grill, which is one of my favorite places in Austin.

Haven’t been to this location before and it’s been several years since we’ve done a Moonshine brunch. Sadly the food was just so-so… the bowl of complimentary popcorn was good but a little oversalted in some spots. I ordered the Saturday special deluxe biscuit with cornflake crusted chicken, topped with bacon and gravy with potatoes on the side. Sandwich was surprisingly bland and surprisingly that the biscuit that looked so flaky was actually dense. Potatoes were good. It was a gorgeous day and the patio was lovely. Service was top notch.
