In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Rustic big woods lodge charm meets retro dinner.
Decided on the avocado bacon tomato Eggs Benedict, country potatoes side fruit.On the server Pedro’s recommendations.
Meal came rather quickly. Looked really appetizing, I quickly discovered 1 egg was beyond over done. Pedro without hesitation got another egg sent out. With that corrected, I very much enjoyed my Benedict. The potatoes not so much, a little to greasy and soft for my liking. Probably should have got regular hash browns. They looked good on plates I saw go out.
Overall enjoyed the experience I’ll be back to try something else.

This was our first visit to any Black Bear Diner. At first the menu was overwhelming…. which is a positive for the large selection. I enjoyed that the menu looked like a newspaper. Our server Daisy N was very nice. The serving portions are large. (We just had to add more seasoning). The plus is that breakfast and dinner are both served all day!

I came here with a friend for breakfast and we didn’t have to wait at all. We were immediately seated, which was impressive for a packed Sunday. There was just enough room for the two of us, and that was great. Starving, we asked the waitress for recommendations on the biggest items on the menu and both opted for the Grizzly. It was super yummy, incredibly filling, and offered generous portions for a great value.

When you get out of your car, you are blasted by the smell of greatness and I mean that literally your mouth is immediately watering from the smell of the food that you are about to get to enjoy you step inside. Yes it’s busy. You might have to wait a little bit but the whole time you get to spend talking to your family and enjoying each other‘s company while you wait and your mouth is watering so that when you do get to the table and you finally get to look at the menu. You are just ready to eat. The service was absolutely fantastic. My wife even forgot to tell them no tomatoes and they corrected it immediately for her. No questions asked then the food got there and let me tell you I got the New York steak and eggs. It was literally mouthwatering. It made you not even want to swallow the steak and just enjoy the juices and the flavor that was coming out of it absolutely one of the best stakes I’ve ever had my wife got. The breakfast melt, and she said that it was the best sandwich she has ever eaten. This place is absolutely phenomenal. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone we went as far as even tipping the whole kitchen staff because the food was just absolutely amazing.

Walking into Black Bear Diner is always a great and cheerful experience. The bar is where I find myself at every visit, close to the ‘action! One of our servers, Ariana always greets us with a smile, and welcomes us back like old family every time! She is always friendly , welcoming and goes the extra mile in excellent customer service! Oracio, is very attentive to our needs, and knows us as regulars! Eligio is always cleaning and making sure that everything is clean, shiny and spotless!
The chefs in the kitchen never disappoints on the preparation of food! I have not had any bad experiences so far!
We like sitting at the bar, because we get to chat with all the servers! BBD is definitely a place to visit for amazing food and service!

Yesterday I took my husband out to eat breakfast for his birthday. Best decision ever. Although it was a busy morning, Maggie made our experience extravagant. She kept her smile the entire time, was super attentive, and even made time to make us laugh a little even though it was busy. It didn’t feel rushed, felt just perfect and special for our little celebration breakfast. Definitely will recommend others to come to this location and refer her because everyone deserves to be taken care by Maggie’s excellent customer service.

I come here for breakfast, about 3 years now. The breakfast menu is great, usually very fresh food and very flavorful healthy portions.
The country feel is awesome as it differentiates from other restaurants and provides a great cozy feeling.
I have been waited on by various servers, but I can truly say that Patty has been by far the best. She is always attentive, very helpful, and seems to know me and what menu items i like! The food is great, so is her service. Even if she is not my server, she makes it a point to stop by my table, say hi and refill my drink. She is A great employee to have and others can learn from her hospitality!
