We were there during the strawberry festival, and it was extremely busy. We had to wait an hour to get a table. Look at the size of that biscuit!! The food portions were large and filling. The family style food and atmosphere is well above average. Although the desserts looked amazing, We didn’t get a chance to try them because we were completely stuffed.

We were seated immediately. We had a choice of inside or outside seating. We chose inside.
My husband chose the Thursday special which was meatloaf with mashed potatoes, country green beans, roll and side salad.
I chose the Rueban sandwich and upgraded my side to a cup of the vegetable beef soup. The sandwich was great, but the soup out shined the sandwich. Yum.
We both enjoyed our meals, but were to full for the deserts that lured us here. Of course we got a piece of pie and cake to enjoy later.
Our server was great. Dining room was comfortable and not overly crowded.
We will be back.

Our server’s name is Star and she’s was AMAZING! We got a simple brunch – BLT, eggs, bacon, and homemade biscuit with their apple butter. I rarely like bread but it was a good biscuit. We will definitely be coming back again! We didn’t get to try the levee high apple pie but it looked good!

Definitely lived up to the hype. Generous portions of delicious food. The strawberry salad and chicken fried steak were sooooo good. Others in our group enjoyed the Reuben sandwich and the Club Salad.

Blue Owl has great, delicious, homemade food. The menu offers soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts, as well as daily specials, like fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, steak and gravy, or meatloaf. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

The spinach & artichoke quiche is cheesy and flavorful. The soups are creamy, thick and rich. The desserts are splendid.

This restaurant has a rustic, tea room atmosphere. The hours here are limited, so check before you go. Handicapped accessible.

This is a really cool place just south of St. Louis. It has been on our radar to come here for quite a while, just for the pies, but we actually stayed for lunch and took the pies to go. We had the Reuben and patty melt with fries and curly fries.

I’m a fry snob, so I was a little disappointed they were frozen, given the $3.79 up charge of you wanted them vs chips. The meals were good otherwise. The levee high caramel apple pie is to die for.

Our server was so sweet and very good at her job. This was our first time there and I’m sad to say that the food was just awful, to say the least. I ordered quiche Lorraine and a bowl of vegetable beef soup. My husband order the fried chicken with broccoli cheese soup, mashed potatoes and green beans. My quiche was extremely greasy and the vegetable beef soup was more like an overly salted thick beef stew. My husband’s fried chicken was under cooked and bloody towards the bone, and the coating had way too much sage in it. We did not say anything to our waitress because she was very busy waiting on tables and we did not want to ruin her day because she was very sweet. We paid our bill and left. We wanted to walk around the shops in town, but only made it to a few before having to hurry and leave to find a restroom where I got sick. I have heard good things about the Blue Owl for years, but we will not be back due to our awful food.

Featured on the Food Network and the Travel Channel. Famous local restaurant. Most famous for their desserts, especially their Levy high apple pie.

A place you always feel welcome. The hostess and the servers are always very kind and friendly. Dressed in their little apron outfits.

Never had any food here I didn’t like. Never a dessert that wasn’t amazing. Can be pretty crowded, especially on the weekends or when there’s a festival in Kimswick itself. At those times parking can be a challenge as well, but it’s well worth it.

When in Kimmswick you must stop at the Blue Owl. It is actually worth the drive from STL even if just for a slice of pie. We really lucked out as we were there on a Wednesday which has Southern Fried Chicken as the daily special. It was excellent. We took half of it home as we wanted to have a piece of the Carmel pecan apple pie. Blue Owl atmosphere is a nice small town diner plus they have a great front porch if you wish to sit outside.
