TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

The foods was hot and amazing! The special Dave’s sauce is the best! The manager came to our table and greeted us and was very friendly and helpful. He explained how the fryer system is cleaned regularly and that is how their chicken is so crispy and fresh!

I absolutely love Dave’s hot chicken! I’d always wanted to go to one, but they didn’t Have a location in Alabama where I grew up. When I moved to Lexington, this is one of the first places I went and it definitely did not disappoint! I don’t know if he’s a manager or what but there’s a man named Justin who works there He is always super friendly, very willing to help and always checks up on the customers even though he doesn’t have to. The chicken quality is always perfect and the tenders are very huge! Everything on the menu is very good. I always go with the classic two tenders and fries. I usually opt for the medium or hot Flavoring on the Chicken and the Dave’s sauce they give you is GREAT!

Where do I even start with Dave’s hot chicken. Ever since I heard that we were getting a Daves in Lexington I was dying to try it, and it did not disappoint. Dave’s is famously known for their tender chicken and range of flavors and spice levels. I personally do not enjoy spice so I was pleasantly surprised when they had many mild and non-spicy flavors. I decided to order the sliders and did not regret it. They were tender and juicy and they came with pickles so that’s another win in my book. Although the food is not the only thing that caught my eye as soon as I stepped in, the whole place was decorated in graffiti. These murals really give the space a fun and inviting vibe to them. The whole place is covered, even the bathrooms. In addition they have outside seating and pretty fast serving time considering how fresh the food is.

I have dined in, at the Lex – Richmond Rd. location and picked up an order to-go. Dine In – The restaurant was clean, well-kept, and a great atmosphere, also (important to me when eating spicy food) the temp was perfect was not getting uncomfortable when hot & spicy makes you sweat a little. Picking up – My order was ready, packed well, and they were so kind & pleasant to me. The food – it was incredibly fresh, the chicken had a great crust, even after being spiced and covered in Dave’s sauce, the texture was amazing. After driving home almost 3 hours with a pickup order, it was still delicious – and that’s hard to do. For a family of 5, it’s hard to find anything that we try that everyone picks (and we can afford)… DHC is a unanimous pick, every single time!
