I’ve been eating at Sonnys since I can remember, but for some reason they’ve all closed where I live so when I come through Florida, I always stop by this trip I did it again.
We had the smoke wings for an appetizer, it took a long time, but well worth the wait. Nice crispy crunch on the skins. I swear I’d come back here just for the wings.
I think these are some of the best St. Louis style ribs that are out there and I’ve eaten at every barbecue joint you can think of driving down the backroads in the South, I love a good rib, and for a chain these guys are spot on every time and I love their barbecue sauces. The smoked chicken is amazingly tender, juicy and flavorful as well.
Their sides are as good as well. I always get the fried okra.
The service is always with a smile. I love the new restaurant style. They have a full bar now.

I’ve had the pulled chicken sandwich here before and it was honestly a 5/5. The last time I ordered it, it looked just like the photo — lighter colored meat, tender, moist, and full of flavor. I was genuinely excited to come back and get it again after a couple of months.
Unfortunately, this visit was a big letdown. The chicken this time was very dry and lacked the flavor I remembered. It honestly tasted like it may have been leftover from the prior day. The texture was completely different — darker, drier, and not nearly as tender.
I know they’re capable of doing it right because I’ve had it done right before. I just hope this was an off day, because the difference between my first experience and this one was pretty significant.

Went just before 6pm, ordered the large pulled pork sandwich, along with fries and a sweet tea. The food was delicious, service was great, and the meal came out super fast after ordering (10 minutes or less). The server was friendly and attentive the entire time and the place was well kept. Oh yeah, their sauces are always great too! Definitely recommend for the Palm Coast area. FYI, they have a drive through also,…. Just in case you don’t feel like dining in and want something better than played out, nasty fast food.

After waiting in the Drive-Thru to pick up my food for over 30 minutes my food is cold chewy there’s hardly any brisket on this sandwich, and I didn’t get a straw for my drink. I ordered online and my food was supposed to be ready at 8:37 p.m.. I went through the drive-thru and as a bonus ordered a dessert item to go with my food thinking I could pick up my food at the window since it’s already almost ready. But Apparently now you can order at the window and sit there for 20 minutes and wait for your food because that’s what happened with the two cars in front of me. Meanwhile my food is sitting in the restaurant getting cold. I understand you guys were getting close to closing and you didn’t hand me my food until 9:00. But basically I paid for cold chewy bread a few bites of meat some hard cheese curds a big icy cup of lemonade that I can’t drink without a straw while driving, and enough barbecue sauce to share with the neighborhood. At least my dog appreciated the cold greasy cheese curds. As you can see in the pictures there wasn’t even enough meat for all of this bread
So disappointed!
The dessert… Had so much hope for peach cobbler egg rolls but one of them was half empty and cooked open in the grease. Gross

Was at Sonny’s BBQ on March 3, 2026 at 6:00 pm. The restaurant was freezing (other customers agreed). Our waiter said he had other complaints, and said he’d mention it to the manager again. The brisket was good but the chicken was quite dry. To finish our meal, a 2 inch cockroach crawled across our table. After my husband killed it and showed it to the waiter, the manager didn’t even come over. The waiter said he’d give us 20% off. We paid our full bill and left. We don’t plan to return.

Don’t bother wasting your time eating here. Especially if you don’t want to get sick.
I hate to leave a bad review but it’s necessary in this case. I’m not sure what has changed at your location in the last few months but from other reviews listed it seems like you have been going downhill fast over the last few months. I’m not going to speculate if it’s staff or management because I haven’t been able to talk to anyone there even after calling multiple times and being placed on a 5-7 min hold each time. But nonetheless, I went through the drive -thru Monday night around 745 where we were behind just two cars. After 20 minutes we finally made it to the speaker to order and placed an order for a pulled pork plate with fries and Mac and a kids grilled cheese with fries. I would have went inside to avoid the long wait but unfortunately I had sleeping kids in my car. After placing the order we waited another 20-30 minutes to get to the window to get our food where we were told that they were out of pulled pork ( by the way the last 2 times we have ate inside we have been told the same thing, not sure how a popular BBQ place never has enough pulled pork on hand ) I’m assuming it was a manager at the window apologized and offered any substitutes for no extra charge ( so he was atleast trying to help ). After deciding on pulled chicken we were given our food and some complementary cookies. Cool. That was nice. This is where it gets concerning. We get home and the fries are all as hard as a brick. The grilled cheese is burnt. My daughter ate her pulled chicken that night and a few hours later developed severe stomach pains and diarrhea. I didn’t pinpoint it to the pulled chicken so the following day she ate her leftovers and again within hours had cramps and diarrhea again. Then within no time she was also throwing up. Then shortly after felt better. Never ran a fever or anything, no other symptoms. OBVIOUSLY from the disgusting food they had served us. I truly don’t appreciate paying almost $40 and waiting 40 minutes for food that is going to make my kid sick and also not feed my other kid because the fries were so old and grilled cheese so burnt. I work in the industry so I did not want to call and complain over the quality of our food because I know not all places have as high of a standard for quality of their food as other places so I figured it was just a lesson learned and I won’t be back. But after my daughter got sick I wanted to alert the manager at least in hopes that they would care and be more cautious of their food safety. Upon calling three different times I was placed on hold for 5-7 minutes each time even after asking to talk to a manager. When coming to place a review I noticed all the other one star reviews from recently and it seems like you have some issues going on. We will not be back. Such a shame, Sonny’s use to be a nice restaurant to visit but if you’re reading this review to determine if you should go there to eat I would say that’s a HARD PASS. Take your money elsewhere. You are literally better off going across the street to Chicfila for better quality food and overall experience.

Usually Sonny’s is hit or miss but this time it was miss big time!!! The pulled pork wasn’t pulled as it was undercooked and unable to be pulled! The okra which is usually great was undercooked and unedible. Fries are cold and rubbery as usual but the worst was the pork and okra! Just awful!

Usually i love my Sonnys, but im thinking the day i visited was low staffing day. Our waitress was running around like crazy, which caused her to keep forgetting parts of our order. But everyone who got seated way after us was give food like 15 to 20 mins before us. And we had easy meals. So i guess under staffed im kitchen as well. Plus no one cpuld eat there raw fries. But main dishes were fine. Dry rub wings were delish. Will go back when in the area visiting.

Beautiful designed restaurant and decorated nicely for the holidays. The corn nuggets were delicious especially with honey on the side. My father really enjoyed the full rack of ribs, baked beans and sweet potato – he said it was amazingly delicious so that’s great. My mom and I split the bbq salad with pulled chicken. the pulled chicken was a little too crunchy and the salad had way too much or the inside white core of the lettuce and my husband got the 3 meat combo and said it was as great except the brisket which he usually loves was too fatty. Overall the waitress was great atmosphere great and we enjoyed the meal overall.
