First visit. Seafood Gumbo, Baked Oysters Benny and Parm and Catfish basket. Gumbo was good, shredded crab and small shrimp. It needed a kick so hot sauce was added. The oysters rocked. Would order those again in a heartbeat. Fried Catfish basket was nice. The 3 pieces were plenty. Too many fries though. Garlic bread was totally unnecessary, and should be instead served with the baked oysters to soak up some sauce remaining in the shells. Service was excellent. Would recommend and would return if I were in town again.

The atmosphere is very homey and cozy. The staff is wonderful, attentive and personable. It just adds to the amazing and plentiful food they offer. Had the stuffed jalapenos which were good and hot! Hot temperature wise and spice wise which was great! Had the shrimp po boy that was stuffed with so much shrimp. Portion sizes are good and food is flavorful! Highly recommended!

Captain Benny’s was recommended by our hotel front desk representative. My wife and I really enjoyed our meal which was served hot. Our server ( Eva) was very friendly and had a smile each time she approached or table. The price was very affordable….and for the cherry on top, the key lime pie, and the strawberry cheese cake….oooolala!!!!

Great experience! Our waiters, Josh and Chris, were super friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. The seafood, chicken, and sausage gumbo was amazing—rich and full of flavor. The jalapeño boudin balls were perfectly spicy and delicious. The Mate’s platter was generous and easily enough for two people. We’ll definitely be back!

Food was bland to say the least. Did have the gumbo, it was ok after adding hot sauce to it. Got the fried catfish, shrimp, fries and hush puppies. Ate a shrimp, piece of catfish, some fries and the two small hush puppies. Left the rest! Oh and tried the crab appetizer. $12 or something, for a handful of blue crab claws that were “broiled” which were dried out but thankfully they had flavor. Couldn’t wait to leave! Was very disappointed!!

Amazing service! Our server, Eva, was friendly, and genuinely made the whole experience better. She checked on us at the right times, made great recommendations, and had such a positive attitude. You can tell she actually enjoys what she does — it makes a big difference. The food was good, but her service is what really stood out. We’ll definitely be asking for her again next time!

Eva is AMAZING! Every time we come to Capt. Benny’s she goes above and beyond. She’s super friendly and always makes sure we have everything we need. You can tell she cares about her customers. The food is great, but Eva’s service makes the whole experience even better. If you go, definitely ask for her! you won’t be disappointed!

We’ve been coming to Houston several times a year for 10 years. We always hit this Captain Benny’s location when we’re in town. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere casual, warm and welcoming. Guy and all the wait staff take great care of us every single time! Emma in particular is a very efficient server. Love the fried catfish and the gumbo. My husband loves the ice cold beer in a frosted mug that Guy serves up!
