We made a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Oshawa and decided to try this restaurant. I am glad we did.
This restaurant is, as I expected, as unique as other Mexican restaurants, even though they offer the same menu items.
Their Carne Asada tacos were amazing! The beef was very tender and moist. A unique touch at this restaurant is their chilli oil that is available on the table, which adds great flavour and a bit of heat to any dish.
Definitely will return when we are in the area.

Came here for dinner and had an amazing first experience. The food was hot, very fresh and delicious. The portions were great and the value for price was on point. The menu had great options. Our server Jeremy was awesome. Friendly and helpful and attentive without being annoying. The other two servers who occasionally took care of us were also friendly. Will definitely come back. My only suggestion is that they play the authentic Mexican music that they had in the outdoor eating area in the indoor eating area as well instead of non-stop pop. A mix would be great.

I had the Pastor Tacos and they were so delicious. I legitimately think they’re my new favourite food. The meat was cooked perfectly, the pineapple added a nice pop of flavour…. I even loved the rice and beans. Will be back!

We came to Chile & Agave to celebrate my niece’s birthday, and I have to say this place exceeded all of our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, and it immediately made us feel at home.
The food was absolutely on point and so authentic – every dish was bursting with fresh flavors and cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into every bite. We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was better than the last. Easily some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Ontario.
The service was equally impressive. The staff were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to make our experience special. The highlight of the evening was when they surprised my niece with a small birthday cake — such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that made the celebration unforgettable.
If you are in St. Catharines and looking for authentic Mexican food, look no further — this is hands down the best place to go. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and their kind-hearted staff makes Chile & Agave a true gem. We will definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone we know!

The atmosphere is amazing. Even if the dining area is packed, there is still more than ample room between the tables and nobody interferes with any other groups’ ‘personal space’. The food is amazing. It really is as authentic as you can get. Everything comes out piping hot and looks absolutely perfect every time.
Typical busy times (dinner, weekends, weekend dinner etc) I would recommend calling and making a reservation.
Parking lot is relative to the size of the restaurant, but the spots fill quickly and it isn’t exactly a pickup-truck friendly size. Try and carpool with your friends if you can. The neighbouring businesses keep an eye on their lots and will tow anything that doesn’t belong.
Even with massive portions and delicious beverages, the total bill was still much less than what you’d pay at a commercial-chain restaurant.

We’re avid and pretentious eaters of Mexican food and this place is hands down authentic and delicious. For sure will get back. I had fajitas which was not too oily as it usually is , the guacamole was great and the beef was tender and every piece was tasty. What topped it for me was the very hot oil with chopped peppers. The waiter was great,always attentive and food came really quick. Patio was nice with latin music- loved it!

Love the food here, but the service is very hit or miss. We’ve often experienced long wait times and inattentive servers; all too often the restaurant is packed and only a couple servers are working.
We’ve tried a variety of menu items and most have been delicious. Atmosphere is super fun, especially for birthdays!

Disappointing Experience Despite a Promising Start 🙁
We visited Chill and Agave craving some good Mexican food. At first, everything looked promising—the ambience was vibrant, and we were quite excited.
We started our evening with their Classic Margarita and Guava Coconut Margarita, both of which were refreshing and tropical—definitely the highlight of the night. The Veggie Queen Nachos that followed were decent, though we felt they could have used a bit more seasoning.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We ordered the Veggie Verde Enchiladas as our main, but after a long wait, we realized the kitchen had completely forgotten our order. Even more frustratingly, when the dish finally arrived, it was the chicken version—despite us clearly stating at the start that we wanted a vegetarian table. After pointing out the error, they replaced it with the correct veggie enchiladas, which were thankfully good.
However, the issues didn’t end there. When we checked the bill after paying, we noticed we were charged for both the chicken and the vegetarian enchiladas. It took a follow-up conversation with the server to correct the billing and get a refund. Had we not checked the receipt, we would’ve been unfairly charged for a dish we didn’t even order.
Overall, the poor service, forgotten orders, and billing mistakes left us with a disappointing experience. The drinks were great, and the food had potential, but the service needs serious improvement.

Loved dining in at Chile & Agave Mexican Grill! Our family visited this local spot on our way back from Cherry Avenue Farms. It was recommended to us by a friend. Make sure to book a reservation in advance, as we had to wait up to 10 minutes for seating.
We got the Fresh Guacamole, Veggie Queen Nachos, Cauliflower Tacos, Burrito Bowl, & Veggie Fajitas. We had a party of 4 people and shared our orders. The quantity of the food was much larger than expected and we had a ton of leftovers to take home and enjoy for the next day.
The ambiance is loud and lively, with outdoor patio seating available as well as indoor. The service was quick and friendly. We had sweet and spicy sauces as well, that go really well with any of the dishes.
There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options to select from. We will definitely be visiting again! Loved the quality of food, the quantity offered, and as well as the friendly service.
