Bernardo told me to try La Costra the other day when I was in there, but I had already eaten one taco and I didn’t have room for another. I decided to come back today and try it and I was blown away. This is not only a very tasty taco; it’s edible art. A great presentation and a wonderful flavor. Five stars on this. I’ve already messaged several of my friends the picture I took and they all want to come and try this now.
As a professional food photographer, this was a delight!

This taco spot is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is cozy, the service is great, and everything feels welcoming from the moment you walk in. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is delicious, so refreshing and perfectly balanced.
Now, the real star here is the “La Costra” taco… hands down the best taco in the universe! The flavor and texture are just unbeatable, it’s a must-try.
The chilaquiles are also outstanding, crispy, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of sauce. I can’t recommend this place enough, definitely worth coming back again and again!

The food was not great. Basic papas con huevo and the papas are still raw. the restaurant was very dirty. The napkin dispensers were greasy and covered in a film that made it seem like its been a while since cleaned. The restrooms had no soap although there was a soap dispenser on the wall it was broken and seems like it hasnt seen soap in a while. When asked for soap the lady stated she would get it and left me waiting. I went and opened a cabinet near the restroom and found a bottle. While I did see them consistently wiping tables it seems more to be “por donde vea la suegra” I would not go back

Had the barbecoa breakfast of champions plate. This was my first time here. This plate was amazing. The barbecoa was nice and tender, the eggs were really tasty and so were the beans. My only complaint was the potatoes weren’t soft enough but it wasn’t a deal breaker. I will definitely be coming back and trying more plates.

6 stars if I could. Easily among the best of ALL restaurants I have patronized. La Costra taco is their best (voted best in city).
We started with a side of Carne guisada, la costra plate, substitute charro beans, Pantera taco, and trash can taco. Tried all six salsas. The la costra is magnificent, and is made slightly even better with the addition of a mild salsa (red of tamatillo) and lime squeeze; in the end I preferred it straight, but you must try both ways. I had a substitution of charro beans, and they were incredible. Looks watery but the juice is identical flavor go the beans themselves. After finishing the la costra plate together, my wife destroyed the pantera taco before I could try a bite. My trash can taco was delicious but oddly did not feel filling. I’d probably get the guerkos taco next time instead of trash can, even though trash can is much more popular (only difference is trash can includes eggs and bean).
We also got two drinks. I went for the mango, not even knowing that it’s fresh-made in-house. OMG, it tasted like I was back in Miami (Hialeah) and taking a big bite out of a ripe mango right off of the tree! My wife chose the horchata, which was also good and caused less overfilling/bloating feeling than most places’ horcharas.
This was absolutely worth the 25-minutes one-way drive!!! Sir, I will definitely be back!!!!

Ordered several tacos to go… AMAZING. I had to try my son’s as well! We ordered the trash can, barbacoa, egg & bacon & pantera tacos. Each taco was delicious. What makes it so great is the flavor of their meats.. the carne guisada is so good. And the bacon. And the barbacoa.. oh man.. not only tastes amazing, but it’s not greasy at all! And their tortillas are perfect. The green salsa has just the right amount of kick. I’ve been searching for a place like this for years! Nowhere else ever hit all the marks.. but this place has exceeded my expectations! Well done! I will be coming back.

*Lunch Review Only* I came here because I was starving and was on this side of town. Google reviews led me to this establishment and give it a try for some lunch tacos— it does seem this place is more geared to breakfast and breakfast tacos, perhaps that’s where they excel. However, the lunch I had here was flat out awful and overpriced for what you get. I ordered one beef fajita and one chicken fajita taco. All that came in the taco was the meal— no grilled onions, peppers, anything. I guess if it’s just going to be the meat by itself, at least have the meat standout— both were overcooked and dry. I could only eat the chicken taco and left the beef taco to be thrown away.
I’ll come back for breakfast and consider changing my review but this will stand for now. Avoid for lunch.

Wow! So good! We ordered the La Costra and a fajita taco. The best fajita taco we’ve had in years! The owner guided our order to the perfect food for our family! He even helped us to our table and brought salsa to us. Great customer service! We will be coming back again soon.
