Outside of eating inside a gas station the atmosphere is relatively fine. Customers were friendly also.
Here is why I went from 3 stars to 1;
Food might as well of been cooked in the microwave. The baked potato was good but the brisket was dry and flavorless. It felt like no effort was put into making anything outside of a big show to look good.
Pricing is on the higher end as expected of a BBQ joint but I still expect at least some quality. I sent my wife in to use the $15 coupon they hand out for donating $10. Not a bad deal to be fair.
I will not refer anyone I respect here. As a Profesional fat guy — 1 Star. Hopefully I remember why I should never come back for another 6-7 years. I could get over most of this but up charging for no reason is pitiful.
Thank you to the staff for being so cheerful and friendly though!
EDIT:
Read response and decided to go back. Didn’t call the number provided. But did take the advice.
Sausage was killer, juicy, flavorful, well cooked overall. The brisket was better. Not the best, but far less dry and had solid flavor. Now the ribs… The flavor and texture on the ribs was near perfection. Seasoned well, perfect bite that didn’t disgracefully fall apart, great bark. All love to the staff and pit master on those.
Over all I will be back on occasion. Service was as excellent as always!
My family and I have always loved this location, but this exact issue has now happened the last five times we’ve visited. The explanation is always the same: “online orders.” That is not an acceptable excuse. Customers who are physically in the restaurant should be the priority. If you are running low on meat, then online ordering needs to be turned off. What exactly are customers supposed to eat when you’re consistently out of the main items you serve?
We were told the wait would be 30–40 minutes. Because we had four young children with us, we decided to stay. When the brisket came out earlier than expected, it was dry and clearly rushed. Once again, extremely disappointing.
If you are out of meat, customers should be informed before they order and pay. Instead, employees act as if this is normal, and given how frequently this happens, you would think they would be trained to handle it better. This is clearly a management issue. Whoever is overseeing this location needs to take a serious look at their ordering, staffing, and prioritization processes, because what’s being done now is not working.
Frankly, it’s no surprise the restaurant was nearly empty, there was barely any food to serve. We won’t be returning anytime soon.
