I recently dined at Sumatera Restaurant NYC, and overall, it was a delightful experience!
Food: The food was flavorful and authentic! I especially enjoyed the rendang and the nasi goreng; both were well-prepared and packed with spices. The portion sizes were generous, making it great value for the price.
Service: The service was friendly and prompt. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. There was a slight delay in getting our drinks, but it didn’t detract from the overall experience.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with charming decor that complements the cuisine. It’s perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.
I highly recommend Sumatera for anyone looking to enjoy Indonesian cuisine in NYC. I look forward to my next visit!

I love Indonesian food, and this was my first time trying it at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding. I believe there are differences in cooking styles depending on the region in Indonesia. I’ve mostly tried Javanese dishes, but this restaurant offers a different style of Indonesian cuisine that I had never experienced before. I’ll definitely go back. Just keep in mind that parking can be a bit challenging if you drive there.
