We went to this place for our last lunch in Florence. We booked the place but the place was huge and there were lots of seatings so probably a booking is not needed at lunch time. There was one server covering a large section but he was very efficient and provided a good level of attentiveness. The food was generally of good quality – the portions were huge and good value for money.

We’ve been to this restaurant several times, even 2 years ago, and it’s still one of the top spots in Florence. The pastas and pizzas are always delicious. The ravioli and lasagna are amazing, and other pastas are also super tasty. The truffle tagliatelle is my absolute favorite.

Kind reception, great food, food portion good, fair prices. The wine cart is very good, from all pockets. We arrived in five people without reservation and the owner was very kind to offer a welcome drink while we waited about 20 minutes. I do recommend it !

The place was awesome, The service by the staff was great. I had diavola pizza and it was great pepperoni (as we call it in america) was really tasty and sauce was great. We asked fot a bottle of wine and it was good and it wasn’t too expensive. We were a party of 5 and it was less than 100€

We don’t drink alcohol but I saw that they have lots of options of wine.

Beware of live cockroaches in ice
We got cups of ice with our cokes and a living cockroach roach was in one of the cups. Our server casually took the glass away after i said something, then never checked up on us again or said sorry (we did eat but we lost our appetite).
The visual of the little moving roach antennae in the cup grossed us out too much, and the truffle in the risotto reminded me of the horrors i saw.
When we received our checks, nothing was reduced and still no apology so we asked to have something comped for the one who had the roach in her glass, and they removed the coperto. He said it must have happened because the doors to the restaurant were open. Ok
Pizza 3/10. Lasagna 20/10. Saffron risotto 7/10. Cokes 10/10. Cups 0/10.

Literally the best restaurant that I visited while in Florence. I was on the city for three nights this past July and went every day that I was there. I ordered the carbonara, lasagna, and florentine steak and every dish was delicious. You can’t let the portion sizes fool you because everything was very filling. I also got a few drinks and tried the ginger ale, aperol spritz, mimosa, and gin lemon, which accompanied my meals quite nicely. Additionally, the staff were amazing, specifically Walter and Erico! Not only was the service efficient, they made our dining, and even trip, experience worth while. I would highly recommend this Matto Matto to anyone, whether you’re a tourist or a local.

Just tried Matto Matto while visiting Florence with my whole family and to say we were incredibly disappointed is an understatement. I would give 0 stars if I could. I genuinely don’t understand how they have such good reviews because it was tasteless! We ordered the Pici Cacio E Pepe which was very bland & an incredibly tiny portion, I had to add black pepper, cheese & red chilli flakes to make it taste more flavourful. We also ordered the Risotto Gamberi E Asparagi and that was so disgusting. It smelled/tasted like dirty old fish with watery rice, it tasted HORRIBLE. We barely touched it & told the server right away, he acted like he was going to take it off the bill but he did not. The workers there kept staring at us & being weird after we respectfully said sorry it tastes like old fish and asked him to take it back. We also ordered the 4 Formaggi, there was no pizza sauce, it tasted like they just put basic cheese on top of bread, it was very mediocre, but still better than the last 2 dishes previously mentioned. FYI they also just dragged us to dine in without asking, when we were going to order take out originally, probably just so they can charge us an extra 8 euros just for sitting there which they snuck on the bill and did not advise us of (very sneaky). Unfortunately, it was the first restaurant we went to in this area and we were completely turned off from eating anything else after this. We came here to have authentic Italian food & it’s so shocking and so sad to admit that this restaurant made the Italian restaurants in Toronto look way better. Never coming back here again
