We were excited to try a new diner and we were disappointed. You walk in and it looks like a neat place but the guy who sat us had a sour look on his face, asked us how many and threw the menus down on the table before walking away without another word. Our actual server seemed nice and we had no issues there. But the food was gross. I got the breakfast burrito and the chorizo was the only thing that added any flavor (which wasn’t much) and I could have finished it had it not been soaked in grease. The home fries were subpar. My fiance ordered the biscuits and gravy and what he got was a sorry excuse. There wasn’t even enough gravy to cover the biscuits and he said there wasn’t any flavor, which in my opinion you have to try really hard to screw up sausage gravy. We also shared a cup of chili which did actually have decent flavor but there was more beans than chili so I didn’t personally care for it. Coffee was decent. Would not recommend.

This is a diner. If you like diners then this is an excellent choice. Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was delicious. It’s a spacious place so there’s a lot of seating, but it’s also popular so expect a wait during peak times. Since they are efficient they seem to be able to turn over tables fairly quickly. If you are in the area and want a typical diner experience I would certainly go to Cromwell Diner.

Had the French Onion Burger. It was very good but a bit pricey. Had great service with a smile. The place was crowded which is always a good sign. Will definitely be back.

This is a diner that should be boycotted by anyone with a social conscience but in particular anyone with a disability. Diner could not provide dietary information for a diabetic child to determine what the child could eat, but even more astonishing was the fact they refused to allow the child to bring in a muffin for his breakfast while others would order from their menu. The ignorance and insensitivity demonstrated by the manager/owner is disgraceful and shameful to say the least and for this reason I urge not to support this establishment. They are terrible community citizens that need to educate themselves on how to treat people with medical challenges.
The review above is an accurate depiction of my experience. However, the owner/manager’s response to the review is not only disingenuous but false. At no point did he explain the regulations that govern dietary diner information or explain that Ct regulations did not allow for outside food to be brought into his establishment. If he had, none of this would be necessary. Instead he chose to be extremely rude, uncaring, and hurtful when the special circumstances warranting the request was made of him. They call themselves a “Family Owned” business. There is nothing about his approach that represent American family values and I strongly urge him to educate himself on how to effectively interact with those who make his business successful.

We were looking for a place to meet an old friend and she suggested this location. It is very convenient to the highway and it wasn’t far out of our way. The food was very good with decent size portions and prices. This restaurant was rated one of the best restaurants by Connecticut Magazine for 2024.

Great service and great food. We usually call in to order then pick it up the food is always ready within 30 minutes (we usually have a group of 4-5) and we’ve never had anything missing from our orders. When I have ate at the restaurant I’m seated immediately and service is quick and everything I’ve ordered has been great, definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place to eat in the area.
