December 7, 2025:
I drive truck, so I have stopped at the TA across the street a few times. I have always wanted to try Habit, every time I’ve driven by and now that I have… I wish I had tried it sooner!
I ordered the Santa Barbara Char meal and it was delicious. The char is one of the best patty melts I have ever tasted. I normally try to get low carb options due to my diabetes, but I’m planning on fasting tomorrow so I decided to have it without making any changes. The bread is grilled sourdough, which I’ve heard doesn’t spike your blood sugar as much. I’ll know in about an hour if that’s the case for me.
The fries were good as well, salty but not overwhelmingly so. They were hot, clearly freshly made, and crispy. I had a glass of both the black tea and the tropical tea. They are both unsweetened and delicious. The black tea is basically what you’d expect if you’ve gotten unsweetened tea at any restaurant, but I don’t know why more places doesn’t have the tropical. I feel like that should be standard at more places.
I ended up also ordering a Mango Miso salad, just because I wanted to try it. It was good without the dressing, but the mango dressing really made it something extra. I added avacado to mine, at an extra $2 something. I will be ordering that again.
The lobby was clean and very artfully laid out. Fantastic use of space, great decorations. It is visually one of the, if not THE, nicest burger places I have ever eaten at. I wish I had gotten pictures of that, but the lobby was full and I didn’t want to disturb the other guests.
They give you a pager that lights up and vibrates when your food is ready. I’ve never seen that before and thought it was pretty cool.
The staff was very friendly and patient with me while I figured out what I wanted to try.
Do I recommend Habit? Yes, I do. Will I be back? I plan to make it habitual.
Even when it was busy, the line moved fast thanks to their efficient setup. They have staff taking orders at the counter as well as self-serve kiosks, which keeps things flowing smoothly. It’s clear they’ve thought through how to manage crowds without sacrificing service.
The restaurant itself is impressively clean—even during peak hours. The dining area, restrooms, and condiment station were all well-maintained, which made for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience.
The food was just what I was hoping for: hot, fresh, and delicious. My charburger was flavorful and well-prepared, and the fries were perfectly crisp. Everything came out quickly, and the quality didn’t suffer even with the high volume of orders.
If you’re driving the I-5 through the Grapevine, this Habit Burger is absolutely worth the stop. Great service, great food, and a clean, efficient atmosphere!
