Locally owned and operated The Western Cafe of Bozeman specializes in American home cooking. Serving breakfast and lunch we are known for simple, tasty dishes like chicken fried steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and Bobcat french toast. Proudly using local products and services whenever possible, The Western embodies traditional Montana: simple food, simple environment, simple comforts. The Western has been in the Bozeman community for the better part of a century and intends on remaining here for years to come. In this spirit and the spirit of stewardship, we make every effort to support our local vendors and charities, as well as efforts towards community and environmental preservation.

Busy place on a mid morning Tuesday but we were seated without a wait. Ordered Huevos Rancheros. Was offered the choice of corn or flour tortillas. The eggs were perfect over easy. The salsa was tasty. I still can’t put my finger on it but it seemed to be missing something. Clean with lots to look look at on the walls.

This is a cozy restaurant that locals love for their breakfast! We had Best and ‘the West’, Harvest omelette, Southwestern omelette and Harvest scramble! They were all so delicious; however the specialty chicken fried steak was the best of all. It is always busy here; after seating the service was prompt and excellent!

I was looking for some nice local restaurant and I thought this was going to be great.
Food was really plain, “customer service “ CERO, and hospitality CERO too.
Not even a smile from the lady who was seating or the server.
I was expecting way too much from the meal but no flavor at all.

We tried to get breakfast at the Western Cafe, but sat for about 10 minutes while every table around us got service (all of whom showed up after us), including their orders taken, coffee, and juice, all the while we didn’t get a word or a glance from either of the two servers working our area. I got a distinct feeling we were not welcome, and that this restaurant has a very specific clientele that it caters and gives preference to.
We left and are sitting at Main Street Overeasy now, which has been incredible so far.

This place is amazing, so glad I got up a little early to stop in. Perfect atmosphere, great food, friendly staff & KILLER music.
Got called a Troll for the first time by a friendly waitress, originally from the UP of Michigan. Since I’m from the LP, and thus live south of (under) the bridge (Mackinac), I’m a troll! Love it!
So much cool stuff to see on the walls but, unlike other “diners”, it’s all totally dust and cobweb free! There’s lots of pride and fun vibes in this establishment!
