We come to Meat on Ocean for pretty much any occasion–birthdays, anniversaries, dinners with friends, or just because. Every time we eat here, we know we’ll be back. The steak is always amazing, and the atmosphere never disappoints.
We’re always happy to see the manager, Brian, when we come in. He goes above and beyond to make sure we have a great experience and is quick to take care of anything that comes up. Such a great manager.
We’ve also had Tim as our waiter several times, and he’s fantastic-super attentive, polite, and on top of everything.
This place has truly become our go-to, and we’ll definitely keep coming back and bringing friends with us. Thanks for always delivering a great experience!

The food here is top notch. I had an 8 ounce filet mignon that was so tender and juicy and flavorful. We also had the salmon which we agreed was the best salmon we’ve ever had. The service was outstanding. Highly recommended.

The restaurant had a quaint, New Orleans style vibe with a warm atmosphere and one heckuva meat selection. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with low-key lighting a back room where the meats are aged and a very solid wine selection. The food overall was absolutely delicious. We had Valentina as our server and she was amazing (we were in town on a work conference). I had a “chef’s choice” charcuterie board, tried a bone-in ribeye, and there were several menu items to choose from including a specialty menu for meat selections. We sat across from the room where the meats were being aged and of course, what’s more mouth-watering than that (to a meat-lover of course)? Overall, it was an amazing experience from start to finish and I highly recommend this location, especially if you are craving some top-line meat selections.

We went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I had made a reservation online noting that we were celebrating that and requesting that we sit at one of the tables by the patio. We arrived and were sat at a table far from where we requested and all the tables where we requested were unused. The waiter was friendly but didn’t really talk much to us or even ask if we were celebrating anything. It felt as if we were just another table to check off. Looking at the menu online, you get an idea for what to expect price wise. I would say we easily spent at least $100 per person after taxes. For that price, we expected the food to be spectacular. We started off with the wedge salad as an appetizer. Easily the most flavorful thing we ordered of the night which is disappointing. For the main dish we both ordered filet mignons. They were cooked to our liking but no flavor. You have to pay extra for seasonings on your steak and even to get sauce on the side. We tried three of the sauces which made the steak worth eating. Without them it was pretty bland. We got the macaroni and cheese side which was average. It honestly tasted like melted ice cream somehow. At the end of our meal we had some leftovers so we asked for them to be packed up. We noticed at other tables the waiters had packed other customer meals. Personally I don’t really care if that is done on my behalf, but the indifference shown by our waiter to us was just off putting. If you’re looking for a super flavorful meal, I’d try elsewhere.

Thoughtfully crafted cocktails like the Noble Pour, Old Fashioned, and Safe Harbor rounded out the experience.

Had an amazing experience at Meat on Ocean! The atmosphere was upscale yet comfortable, with a lively vibe and beautiful The service was top-tier—attentive without being overbearing. And the food? Absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor. Every bite melted in my mouth. I also appreciated the sides and cocktails—they really tied the whole meal together. If you’re looking for a quality dining experience in Santa Monica, this spot definitely delivers. I’ll be back!

I came here for a friend’s birthday and had a really good experience, the service was amazing the servers were nice and were knowledgeable in the area around it was nice to hear about places to go and things to see from them. The food was great and there were plenty of options the steaks had amazing flavor and I would go again. The atmosphere is 4/5 because it was kinda cold and we were sat outside but they did bring us a blanket.

Texas Road House has better service than this place at 1/3 the cost. The food was hot and came out quickly. The steak was “good,” nothing spectacular, but I am from the Midwest, where corn feed beef is all around me. I think I expected more from a meat place for the price.
