Rustic Thai bistro with candles, traditional wall mirrors, framed pictures and a classic menu.

Beautiful food, warm & welcoming atmosphere. Prices were reasonable & waiting time for food was perfect, nothing seemed rushed but came quickly. We’ll definitely be visiting again on our next trip to York

Visited Khaosan in York recently. The food was good and flavours were nice overall but I felt it was a bit overpriced for what you actually get. Portion sizes could be more generous — especially the prawns and rice, which seemed quite limited . The restaurant is also very cramped, with tables quite close together, which made it feel a bit uncomfortable at times . I understand that a service charge is added automatically and this is mentioned, but personally I prefer to leave a tip myself depending on the experience, so that felt slightly uncomfortable. Overall a decent meal but not amazing value for money .

The food tasted good, but the portions were very small, and the curry didn’t come with white rice. We had to pay £4.50 for what felt like a toy-size plate of rice. The restaurant is quite small and can feel crowded.

Thai tapas style is a new for me even i had this style in Cornwall couple years ago. The food is good I had order 5 dishes. I am not sure why they not served condiment for noodle as Thai style but i asked then waiter asked me back what i wanted so I tried to understand the most customer never asked before or small portions no need! Steam rice was not nice cos smell likes not fresh. Anyhow Lard na mooh noom, Lhon tao jiew and Miang Pla are delicious. I wanna give compliment to Japanese waitress , she is a friendly and willing to do service. Very appreciated.

The food here was amazing. Myself and the wife shared a mixture of 4 plates from different parts of the menu with a side of rice. I had no problem with the food and I would definitely come again when I’m in York. I’d argue we may have need another 2 or 3 to actually get full properly but despite this, I recommend coming here!
Like other places in York, there is limited space inside as we had a stroller but the staff were accommodating and seated us so that we had space to store this out of the way.

Beautiful décor and friendly service. The small-plate, tapas-style Thai dishes are great for sharing. Not entirely authentic, but still delicious and definitely worth a visit.

The best Thai food I’ve had in England – absolutely AMAZING! Laab, wow. Papaya salad, wow, crispy pork, wow.
Really beautiful restaurant, the best staff, and amazing selection of tapas style Thai dishes. Really so sad I live so far away!
If you’re in York – this restaurant is an absolute must. Thank you team!

Had a great experience, the place was very busy which is a good sign for good food. The staff were attentive from start to finish. Food was great, we shared 6 plates and they were all great.
Would recommend to anyone who likes Thai and also small plates.

This was amazing!
Absolutely loved it. Great food, fast service and even made a table up specially as we hadn’t made a booking.
The menu recommends 3 dishes each. This ended up being, if anything, a little bit much- but it depends, of course, on what you choose.
I selected the crispy pork belly with asparagus and vermicelli noodles (all favourites of mine- but be warned: very hot! My favourite), crispy battered mushrooms (delightful) and duck leg in tamarind sauce (delicious). The flavour combinations were great.
My wife had broccoli, chicken and duck- can’t remember the exact items, but she loved it too.
Definitely getting a repeat visit from us in the future!
