I went to this restaurant with my friend for the first time and I was so impressed by the food, the environment and the service. I highly recommend it, even for special occasions. The quality of food is amazing and just as important, the service was incredible. Our waiter, whose name is JC is a great singer and will sing you happy birthday if you go on your birthday. He was so kind and the rest of the staff were very respectful as well, even when I asked for extra spicy salsa for my food. I know some restaurants get bothered when you asked for extra stuff that you’re going to pay for… But the servers at Sol Mexican Cocina brought me different salsas to try and that was really cool. Their response made me feel welcomed. I highly recommend this restaurant if love traditional Mexican food. I’m definitely coming back and bringing my family to try it out as well.

First Time here—nice place with lots of seating options. Great Service, very welcoming. Tried several HH offerings. The Shrimp Cucarachas was very good although quite messy and Hot to handle (served in a Hot Skillet). Guacamole was tasty. Salsas were good, as was the Black Bean Dip they serve with the large chips. I didn’t care for the Shrimp Taquitos—very odd (they blend the filling, not sure if they use actual shrimp) and the sauce tasted and smelled like Mayo. I’d rec trying this restaurant at least once. I’ll be back for a group event in a couple weeks and try some other items.

Service is excellent, though the food is just ok. Appetizers are good, big and generous chips and salsa. Guacamole and corn are great. But the entrees could be better, chicken too dry and cold dishes. The drinks could be pricey but excellent. We had a big group with outdoor tables on deck, but the service is top notch.

During our Newport visit, We tried this restaurant for dinner. Service is great, clean and good ambience. They have outdoor sitting area. Great selections from the menu.
We had goat cheese and grilled sweet corn, its amazing. And we had some tacos as well.

The absolute worst experience in years. If I could give a minus I would. Took 1 hr 30 for food. It arrived cold. Multiple people at the table had cold food. 1 person got brown guacamole.

From the start this was a hot mess. We got told we absolutely had to be on time or our table would be taken away. We arrived and the table wasn’t ready for 15 minutes.

Then we got given guacamole but no chips. We got told theyre busy and didnt know they would be.

This is on a Saturday night in a tourist town in the holidays. They should be able to look at historical sales and plan better. Also, they required reservations so they knew damn well in advance how many people would be dining at any one time and the fact that they kept making excuses isnt on. This isn’t the servers fault. This is abject management that doesnt know what day of the week it is.

It took 1 hr for chips to arrive.

The service was so bad that when you got a drink you ordered the next one knowing it would take so long.

My food was freezing cold and plated poorly. My table mate asked for a chicken dish and got given beef.

I asked for a club soda and got told to order expensive sparkling water.

My food came back with no silverware and had to ask for silverware.

Honestly this place is a disgrace to Mexican food and hospitality. They should be embarrassed

Stopped in for Taco Tuesday. Service was excellent. The frozen margarita was very good. I ordered the black bean and sweet potato tacos; good but super spicy. The chips and salsa were excellent. Disappointed that the live music was a DJ.

Really good mexican spot, the service was great and their complementary salsa and chips were beautiful as well! I highly recommend you ask for the Spicy one, it is awesome! We got the grilled burrito and while it was good, I wish I got it wet since it felt like it was missing some flavor. The rice included was also pretty good, overall a great spot for a brunch or dinner with plenty of vegetarian options. The watermelon hibiscus drink was also really good!

Highly recommend! Sol exceeded our expectations for a large birthday party and took great care of us and our guests.

The food was delicious, the space (seated in the Den) was perfect for our party of 20 and the vibe was cozy and warm.

Special thanks to Joanna, Tori and our server Luis for their care and coordination!

We came here on a date night based on a friend’s recommendation and the reviews seem like it would have been a good place. But, we were definitely not impressed. We came on a Saturday night at 730pm and maybe they were too busy and understaffed…. What didn’t make a good impression was when we were seated, the booth was sprinkled with crumbs and it was really dirty, so we had to ask them to clean it. It took 10 mins for water to come out. We waited an hour for our food and it was lukewarm at best upon arrival. Our server was super sweet and we really liked her. The restaurant is pretty, but we couldn’t really see the view. They had on top 40 songs and no Spanish music or anything like that.
After having gone to some amazing restaurants last weekend like Teleferic, this paled in comparison. I’d probably rather go to Javier’s instead of here. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food and vibes, this is not it.

The only good thing about this experience was the view.
Looking at the photos of the restaurant and the food we had very high hopes, but those were dashed in ten minutes again and again. Ten minutes we sat & waited for water & chips & salsa. Then waited for a cocktail menu. After finally getting served my wife’s drink-blackberry ginger marg-was tasty & strong.
The Sol guacamole comes with the ingredients on a plate & you stir it yourself, but we liked it.
Wife’s chopped salad was $16, small & didn’t fill the plate. Carnitas were overcooked and tough.
We decided to roll the dice & ordered the tequila flight and it was again TEN minutes before the waiter returned and said, “we discontinued that-we’re not doing flights. They haven’t updated the menus.” Take a look at the photo-it’s $23 for three 1 oz pours in a flight, or $17!! for a single pour of basic blanco tequila. What a scam! A lot of restaurants change menus up daily, to not “update” is no excuse.

When the manager walked by and asked how things were, he didn’t wait, he hustled kept walking…wow.

All in all we had a very bad experience here and don’t think we would return.
