I drove 3 hours to eat at a Ponderosa again! It was 100% worth it and I will be back soon! I loved Ponderosa as a child and was so happy to find one still existed. Our service was amazing from the host staff to our server. The restaurant was clean and food was hot and fresh. Highly recommend the Chicken Monterey and Sirloin with the Buffet. Thank you Ponderosa for making my childhood memories come back to life!

Our Englewood Ponderosa has been gone for many years, and understandably so with poor management and corporate decisions. We learned there was still a Ponderosa in Hillsborough so we drove there and was quite surprised.
We visited again today and again, quite surprised! The food was hot & fresh! The service from the door to the table was warm & friendly. All the staff was attentive to our needs. This Ponderosa offers an enjoyable dinner experience. We didn’t feel like we were rushed or putting anyone out, and the service came to us, we didn’t have to wave someone down for a simple drink refill or extra napkins.
Now that we have had two great experiences several months apart, we will likely be visiting more often. The hour+ drive getting there is scenic too.
If you miss Ponderosa, go to Hillsborough! You too will be surprised.

I haven’t eaten out of ponderosa for years. Friends that I worked with told me about ponderosa. That was my second trip to ponderosa, and I really enjoyed it. The food was tasty and the service was great and friendly.

Ponderosa in Hillsboro is truly a hidden gem for family dining. The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with friendly smiles and the comforting aroma of fresh, homestyle cooking. The buffet is always stocked with a wide variety of options — from juicy fried chicken to fresh salads and tasty sides. Everything is kept hot, fresh, and inviting, which really sets it apart.
What I appreciated most was the atmosphere — it’s casual, cozy, and perfect for both family gatherings and a relaxed night out. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels taken care of, refilling drinks promptly and keeping the dining area spotless.
And let’s not forget the dessert bar — it’s a sweet way to end the meal, with plenty of choices to satisfy any craving. Between the great food, excellent service, and affordable prices, Ponderosa in Hillsboro is the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to again and again.

Wow! This was my first time at. Ponderosa’s and I’m happy with the hour drive my boyfriend and I made. My family grew up with this restaurant and I never got to try it. The food was fresh…they had mashed potatoes, sweet meatballs, meatloaf, the best chicken nuggets I’ve ever had (tasted like McDonald’s nuggets but 1000x better), fried chicken, a salad bar, and desert. I didn’t check the menu, but I’m sure you can order a steak. I’m very happy that this is still here and busy!! The place was clean for being so busy so that’s always a good sign.

Perfect trip from Dayton! A flood of nostalgia swept over me from the moment I opened the door. Wonderful staff! Great food! Just as I remembered from the 70s and 80s on “fancy” dinner with my grandparents. Recommend highly!

The Ponderosa in Hillsboro was Overall, our experience was great — the food was excellent and our server was wonderful. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the host who checked us in around 5:30pm on 2/27/26 (green shirt, low ponytail, working on the far left register facing the doors) was very unpleasant.
She appeared irritated, was making faces and rolling her eyes during our interaction, and spoke to us in a dismissive tone when we were simply trying to confirm my fiancé’s order (the grilled sweet heat shrimp). The way she responded felt demeaning and unprofessional.
As the first person guests interact with when entering the restaurant, this really set a negative tone and we almost chose to leave because of it. We’re glad we stayed, because the rest of the staff and the food were impeccable — but we did want to bring this to your attention so future guests have a better first impression.

As usual, being one of the last open, we couldn’t wait to go! This place is always on point. The food was awesome, the service was great! We are here once a year, and every time it’s great!

We decided to take a trip to Athens to try Millers Chicken. On our way back we decided to go through Hillsboro and try one of the last standing Ponderosa’s. Both of us agreed the chicken at Ponderosa was much better than at Millers. Everything we had was really good, it’s clean, the service was great. We highly recommend if you’re ever in the area!
