Atmosphere was amazing, lovely decorated! Service was phenomenal…always making sure we were well taken care of and the food….the food….was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!! For the cocktail, I had the maple Bourbon spice and my fast buds were in happy land! My wife ordered the meatloaf with the noodles and dumplings and I had ordered the schnitzel (pork) with the brandy cream sauce, sauerkraut and German potato salad!! We highly recommend for any occasion! A+++
You are so right. When order the pretzel sausage cheese sampler platter which was fair. The beer cheese is disgusting. It’s full of like celery seed. It’s almost like a bad oily salad. Dressing is how I could describe it. You cannot taste the cheese at all.
The fruit that came with it was overripe and there were ordinary scattered cheese cubes, around the pretzel. The sausages were tasty.
I decided to tie all the sides that I like. The potato pancake was more like an undercooked pancake with a lot of scallions, very mushy, not crispy at all.Like, they’re supposed to be so that was a yuck. The cucumber salads are normally thin shaven, cucumber slices with a nice light dressing. They were big chunks of cucumber with the skin on it just awful. The spaetzle dish was covered in that God awful beer cheese sauce and the red cabbage was also cut in very large unappetizing bites.
My husband usually loves most food and he struggled through his pork loin.I mean, struggled did not care for his brussels sprouse nor his warm German potato salad. That was also not very good. They had a lovely accordion player that we enjoyed, however, when you’re in the main dining room, and you’re facing the accordion player, you’re staring at a very large wide open kitchen serving area slash bus station, and they even have the nerve to have a table right next to it.So you’re basically looking at water pitchers, and servers standing around, and watching food come out of the kitchen instead of having like a pretty curtain or something to camouflage that space. If it weren’t for our nice waiter, the evening would have been worse. Sadly, this was our only night in Hot Springs.
The real standout, though, is their beef stroganoff—it’s hands down the best I’ve had anywhere. And for something unique, don’t miss the adult butter beer—smooth, creamy, and deliciously nostalgic.
Steinhaus Keller is consistently excellent. A must-visit spot in Hot Springs!
We went on Thursday evening and sat on the patio, which was so lovely. Had the Bavarian Pretzel, Donar Kebab, and Polish/Bratwurst plate. Every single thing we had was so amazing! Service was fantastic, prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.
We returned again on Saturday evening about 5pm. Luka was our server and he was the best! So kind and he had the best recommendations! His service was so good, anticipating our needs and prompt. He recommended the Goulash, chicken paprikash, and raspberry something for dessert. That was all for my husband and he absolutely loved it all! I had a salad and beef stroganoff, which was so good, along with black forest cake- to go. The rolls are even so good!
My husband’s only regret was not getting a bowl of the Goulash. He said it’s the best he’s ever had. Overall amazing and we will definitely be back and will recommend to friends and family.
Oh, if you’re coming on a weekend, be sure to make a reservation!
Give Luka a raise!
I dined here two consecutive nights it was so good. Round one consisted of chicken Diane with spaetzle underneath and the kielbasa sausage. The sausage was firm and chewy as a quality sausage should be and the chicken was equally delicious.
The service was very good and there was a single violin player performing on a small stage playing old and contemporary music. I should have tested her mettle and asked her to play Vivaldi’s Winter.
I was going to hit the Brick House for round two of dining in Hot Springs, but they are closed on Sundays.
Regretting not ordering the schnitzel for round one, I had to try it, and I was not disappointed. For clarity, I ordered the pork and not the veal. Again, the table service was impressive.
After dinner, I encountered an e-bike rickshaw and had to have the grand tour. My tour guide called himself “LJ” and took me around. First we hit the Veterans park and I let him know the army tank sitting the was the venerable M-60 Patton. There’s many an M-60 tank sitting in such parks around the country.
Next on the grand tour was the town drainage ditch. But this was special in two ways. Firstly, it channels the hot water from the springs through the town under the main thoroughfare passing eight bath houses along the way. Legend has it that multiple businesses along the main street have access to the tunnel and this was particularly made use of during the Prohibition era with the likes of Al Capone having his finger in the pie.
At the opposite end of the tunnel is the other opening where water flows in. Along the ditch is the town’s alligator farm. Back in the teens and 1920s, the surrounding area was a ballpark. The very same ballpark where Baseball legend Babe Ruth hit a 573 foot home run from what is now a parking lot. The spot is marked by a home plate commemorating the event. Behind the plate are some decaying concrete bleachers where fans once sat during games. Trees surround these relics of a bygone era with some growing up through the concrete.
After that visit, made our way back to my parking spot with an interesting and enormous building mural along the way.
LJ recommended the Brick House so I will try it on my next visit.
The food was really good and I’m sure we would have had a great time if the waitress was more attentive and had more training. She also kept apologizing and then blaming things on her coworkers/ bosses for moving her around.
Edit: Thank you so much for responding. My husband and I had reservations December 20th at 8:30pm. The confirmation number for the reservation through open table was 98756.
I believe our waitress’ name was Tara. Our check number was 95 and we sat at table 9. I appreciate you all for taking constructive criticism well.
