Our story routes back to a little boy spending time in the kitchen watching other people cook and pound some flavourful masalas. With the growing numbers in Konaar mess, grew his growing passion. Mr Anjappan started off with his first restaurant located in Royapettah, Chennai in the year 1964 with the blessings of Sri M G Ramachandran, a well-renowned actor. Starting off with a single outlet to now serving 48 outlets in India and over 35 outlets spread across 25 countries, we are proud to call ourselves the world’s largest chain of Chettinad Restaurants.
Part of a global chain that originated in Chennai serving classic Indian dishes.

We as a family were at the Restaurant for Lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the see raga Sambha Chicken Biryani Meal and the North Indian Vegetarian Thali that we had ordered. Highlight was the Songs played at the Restaurant, that ensured a good time for the family. Tasty food, that was value for money and customer friendly service. Must try Restaurant when in Milpitas, CA, USA

Anjappar in Milpitas is an absolute gem! The Chettinad chicken was perfectly spiced, fiery, and packed with flavor, while the vegetable pulao was fragrant and loaded with fresh veggies and soft paneer. Everything tasted authentic, generous portions, and the service was quick and friendly. Easily the best South Indian/Chettinad meal I’ve had in the Bay Area. Already craving my next visit! Highly recommend!

We love Anjappar! We have eaten here twice and the wait staff has been so kind each time. We have dietary restrictions (celiac) and need to eat gluten free, and they have accommodated nicely each time. The dosa was huge and delicious! And we absolutely loved the mutton masala.

The food and atmosphere, everything is amazing! I am not sure why the overall rating is lower, but it could be mostly due to takeout orders.
We got king fish fry and Ceylon porotta.
We have tied Ceylon porotta in three locations of Anjappar in California and this is the best, tried it second time here. Talk about consistency!

this is a very good Indian restaurant. the menu has lots of choices, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, so there’s plenty for everyone. authentic dishes. the waiters leave you alone. it’s a good place for business lunches. I’ve been here several times and always return.

I would rate this place an absolute zero (0), if that were even possible. I ordered food through Uber Eats expecting at least basic quality and cleanliness, but instead I found what appears to be an insect leg in my meal — and it looks very much like a cockroach leg. That alone is disgusting and completely unacceptable.
This is not just a small mistake; it shows a total lack of hygiene, care, and basic food safety standards. Finding something like this in food is disturbing and honestly makes me feel sick just thinking about it. It completely ruined my appetite and my trust.
What’s even more disappointing is that it feels like they simply don’t care about cleanliness or their customers’ health. When people pay for food, they expect it to be safe to eat — not contaminated.
I will never order from this place again, and I strongly warn others to think twice before doing so. This was a horrible experience and one of the worst food orders I’ve ever had.

Loved the food at Anjappar Milpitas! The Ceylon porotta was super soft and flaky, the chikku shake was rich and delicious, and the king fish fry was perfectly spiced and fresh. Definitely recommend!

I ordered from this restaurant through Uber Eats, and honestly, I was disappointed with the portions and quality. The quantity was very small — some items felt like they were served in a 4 oz cup, which is not worth the high price they charge. I don’t mind paying more when the food is high quality, but here the quality doesn’t really justify the cost.
The rasam was good and flavorful, but the rest of the thali items were a hit or miss. The non-veg dishes, in particular, were not great. Overall, I don’t think the value matches the price, and I’d be hesitant to order again.

5-star Thalis that hit the spot. Many different unique and favorable options. So much to choose from. I had the South Indian Veg Meal and it was a lovely diverse array complete with a yogurt and cashew raisin halwa. I also had a Masala Chai tea. Both items left me very satisfied. I can’t help but wonder how their holiday menu looks. A very nice layout and atmosphere that left me wanting to bring at least a few guests next time I return. Thank you for the excellent experience.

No exceptions on the food comparing with the ones back in India. Every item from Chicken Biryani (Regular and Seeraga Samba), Fish curry and idly, Masala Dosai and specially Jigardhanda was awesome.
