Mexican favorites & many flavors of margaritas in a casual space with traditional accents.

This place used to be one the better and more reasonably priced Mexican restaurants in Douglasville. It’s been a year or two since I’ve been and it is not the same at all. My lunch was $11 and the plate was tiny. The chicken was gristly and the margaritas were not flavorful at all. Definitely my last time coming here. Everything is super expensive and lower quality now.

If you’re searching for a standout dining experience in a town flooded with Mexican restaurants, look no further than Monterrey’s Mexican restaurant. Each visit is better than the last, as this place consistently delivers outstanding quality. My go-to dish, the Agave special, features perfectly seasoned chicken and steak, paired with a cheese sauce that’s simply delightful.
The atmosphere is always welcoming and the service is fast and friendly with great prices.
I recommend this place

This place is consistently good. My favorite dish is the Agave Special. It always has plenty of flavorful steak and the perfect amount of cheese sauce. Yum!

Douglasville is severely lacking in good restaurants, but for some reason we have a dozen Mexican and Chinese places. My family eats out several times a week and have tried every restaurant in the city. We LOVE Mexican food, it’s definitely our favorite. THIS IS THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN DOUGLASVILLE PERIOD!!!! The food is great, the salsa is great, the drinks are great(strong), the service is fast, and yes, it’s also GREAT, it’s fast and super affordable. There’s several decent Mexican restaurants in Douglasville, but overall, this is hands-down the best. Blue Agave is really good if you want some extra atmosphere for a date, but Monterrey is the best in terms of value. Love it, thank you Monterrey, we’re thankful for your restaurant. I’ve been a weekly customer for more than a decade…….

Disappointing Catering Experience from a Usually Reliable Spot – Hoping for Improvement
We’ve been regular family customers here for years and love the food, so I was excited to use them for catering my private event last Saturday. I ordered a $168 build-your-own fajita bar with three protein options (including shrimp, chicken, and steak), expecting separate containers so guests could customize their plates.
Unfortunately, everything arrived mixed together in one large silver pan: all three meats combined with the fajita onions and peppers. This made it impossible for guests to build their own fajitas as intended; especially problematic for those with allergies (like shrimp on top of chicken). The steak was also extremely tough and overcooked, to the point where most people couldn’t eat it comfortably.
As a result, many guests skipped the catering entirely, and I had to quickly order food from elsewhere to ensure everyone was fed. It felt like a significant miss for an event where presentation and customization matter.
When I called to speak with the manager (Armando) about the issue, the response was dismissive, with no apology, explanation, or offer to make it right, no refund, credit, or gesture of goodwill for a long-time repeat customer.
I don’t want to discourage anyone from dining in (the restaurant is usually great for that), but I strongly recommend double-checking catering details and setup expectations in advance. This was a BIG letdown for what should have been a fun, brag-worthy experience.
If the restaurant improves their catering prep (e.g., keeping proteins separate) and handles concerns more empathetically then I will go back.

Authentic and delicious food. Friendly staff. Cozy ambiance and great vibe. The chicken soup was my favorite—I will be back. Highly recommend.

We only ate here passing by nonetheless, the restaurant had a good atmosphere where the volume of patrons and tv volume was quite nice and not loud. The order came to the table faster than we can ever remember a sit down restaurant ever having. We even noticed a larger table’s order was server just as fast. The food was quite good for such a large menu and taste was traditional. I hope this was helpful only because it is unlikely that we will visit the restaurant again. However, worth a review, because that’s how we found it. Staff was very friendly.

Food was great, very busy on a Friday night. Did not appreciate the waiter snatching the plate out of my hand while I was putting food in my take out box. Atmosphere was very loud so, those with anxiety in social situations, choose a different time. Thank you.

This was my second time here, The first time was amazing!! Had an amazing Waiter!! He was always checking up on us to see how everything was.. The First time visit is a 100% 5 Star Review I just forgot to submit one for that visit..
Now the second time here which was today,(11/19/25) the waiter was I guess ok, Not once did he check up on us to see how everything was, he offered me more sweet tea at the last minute when we were getting ready to leave..
He practically threw the plates of food on the table in front of us I’m surprised he even warned us that the plates were hot.. wasn’t very pleasant or all that friendly.. very disappointed in the way we were treated today..
We will be back just hope we don’t get the same waiter as today.

For my first time, it wasn’t bad. Our waiter was very sweet and respectful. We tried the shrimp ceviche, shrimp and chicken la lancha, fries, and texas nachos no steak. For our drinks, we got virgin daiquiris (peach pina colada and mango pina colada).
