We rolled in right about 6 p.m. on a Saturday and the parking lot had 1 spot left with cars parked down the street. We were seated fast. Excellent prime rib (12 ounce with bread, a salad wedge, and baked potato was $25), fresh lettuce with homemade ranch dressing, and soft dinner bread. Service was great and the food came out fast. Call ahead to see what they are serving as I believe the weekend is just prime rib. The atmosphere has a touch of Alpine Inn from Hill City to it. We will definitely be back.

They should post something on their menu that states you can only get prime rib on weekends. We drove 50 minutes to get there only to find out you don’t get a choice other than prime rib. I went there because I heard the filets are excellent, the service is excellent and it would be worth the drive. I was so disappointed. I can’t eat prime rib, let’s just say I like it but my body doesn’t. We did end up getting the prime rib anyway. iIt was a little dry but the aus juice helped and really added to the flavor, the baked potato was hard and cold the butter wouldn’teven melt.. Everything else was good. I will say they do need to update their menu on the website, we had Cheescake and a Brownie both were delicious, the price on the menu said $3.99 each, we were charged $5.99 each. They also charge you for extra butter.

The food was awesome the burger was a perfect medium rare the steak tips were also a great medium rare the red wedge salad was delicious and the key lime pie is a great choice highly recommend this a little off the beaten path but a great stop say hi to Shelli the bartender she did a great job PS love the menu

Used to be a 9.99 filet dinner special and billboard still states that price. It’s $15 now, not that big of a deal but definitely suggest updating that sign.
I have gone a couple times, I do the 12oz filet meal. Comes with a wedge salad and baked potato. Steaks are good, definitely a deal oriented grade though. Haven’t been unhappy, always cooked properly and for two filet mignon, salad, baked potato and a call old fashion or Manhattan to turn me $34 it’s something that will always be a deal to me.
Do be careful, they will ask if you want things on both the salad and steak. It is at an additional charge, but this will not be pointed out until the bill. Still recommend the blue cheese on the salad, wedges should always have blue cheese crumbles.

This is the quintessential South Dakota Steakhouse! It is a must visit. The prime rib and filet’s are fantastic and at a great price. There is a full bar. The only wish is having beer on tap although there are several bottle and can selections.

Stayed overnight in Hartford on my way home to Kansas City and was really craving a steak. It was a Saturday night, and the menu was simple—just prime rib, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It was cooked perfectly, one of the best prime ribs I’ve had in years. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but it was clear people were enjoying themselves, and the staff was very friendly. I’ll definitely make this a regular stop whenever I’m heading west. Prices were reasonable too, especially compared to big-city steakhouses.
