Went with my boyfriend on a Thursday night at the end of January. I live and work in a fine dining in Asheville so my quality standard is very high, almost to a fault. They offer specials every night of the week and Thursday is a pairing of steak and a large crab cake with two sides and a lobster cream sauce for $29, which blew my mind. It was really good, the crab cake had a lot of crabmeat, not jumbo lump but seriously for $29 it was AMAZING. So much so that I suggested we go out the following Thursday, to celebrate our Valentine’s early, and he got the special. I had to try something new so I got the blackened salmon with asiago stuffed gnocchi. I traded out the bed of rice for grilled veggies and got it medium rare. It was almost better than the special. Both times our waitresses were very fast, efficient, and enjoyable. As well as the food took a surprisingly short amount of time. The owner greeted us at the door and was very helpful our first time in. Will be going back.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We had the fried green tomatoes, lobster ravioli and shrimp, steak and lobster, key lime pie, and the peach bread pudding. It was delicious! The owner and his staff were attentive and so friendly! We are from Arizona and would travel back here just to enjoy another meal here!

Disappointed, despite the popularity and polite staff.
I ordered the Ribeye Medium Rare, but received a very thin (~0.5 inch), tough, and overcooked piece of meat. It was served completely Well Done and lacked the texture or taste of a proper Ribeye.
For $33, I expected a quality steak, not a cheap ‘minute steak.’ The service was great, but the kitchen failed completely. I cannot recommend ordering steaks here.

I love this place! I’ve been here twice now and both times were very nice. The food is absolutely delicious. I got the gnocchi snapper tonight and it was phenomenal. The atmosphere is always great, with fresh flowers in a vase on the table. The free cookie with your meal is the cherry on top that makes this place a top notch restaurant in Mooresville.

I went with my cousins, two of us are celiac. We were celebrating my cousins birthday. We got the crab cheese dip appetizer, and build your own burgers with sweet potato fries (dedicated gluten free fryer!). It was by far the BEST burger either of us have had in our entire lives, genuinely phenomenal. The bun felt like a real burger bun, best gluten free bun i’ve ever had. The food was delicious, the staff were so kind and the owner came out and talked to us about the restaurant and gluten free offerings and he was so sweet. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

The meal started out with great service and a wonderful spinach crab dip appetizer that was served with tortilla chips. The app really set the bar high.
I ordered a blackened red snapper with mash potatoes and roasted Brussels. The menu stated everything was fresh caught or grass feed which leaned me towards the red snapper. The snapper was way over and very rubberized and hard to eat. The sides were on point but the red snapper was a horrible choice.
The wife order a 5oz rare Ribeye with roasted Brussels and fries. The Ribeye was cooked perfect but was nearly 50% grissle and 50% decent meat. The ribeye reminded us of the 40 steaks for $40 special from the Roadside steak trucks.
The banana nut muffin which was included with my meal was made with what tasted like rosemary and a lot of it, making it inedible.
We skipped on the free cookies and took $1 off 2 $8 deserts.
1 apple pie slice with vanilla ice-cream. Some rosemary taste just less making it the highlight of my meal.
1 peach cobbler that had way too much of the rosemary flavor and was also inedible.
There was a nice dressed dementia patient walking greeting people at their tables, but never introduced himself to anyone. (Maybe the owner or manager).
The wait staff was great.
The bill was $94.07 and I did a $20 caah tip.
Needless to say we wont return to the blue star grill.

We need to come here more often! We always have a good solid meal, the service is always good and the free cookies (even gluten free ones) are delicious! They also offer gluten free banana bread instead of cornbread or a wheat roll with soft butter. Also the trivia was pretty great! It’s such a good way to get our teenager engaged in conversation at the table. Until next time!

Great stop in Mooresville, NC. Nelson, who we think was the owner, checked on is multiple times! From the crab fritters to the red snapper, all the food was delicious! The service was quick and pleasant. Free cookie at the end of the meal as well! Keep it up the great job and good ingredients! Hope Nelson and his crew succeed!
