What made it even more concerning was that before walking out, they visibly picked their wedgie and then just left the restroom without washing their hands. In a restaurant environment where hygiene and food safety should be a top priority, that was really disturbing to see.
Managers are supposed to set the example for the rest of the staff. Seeing someone in a leadership position ignore basic sanitation like handwashing made me seriously question the cleanliness standards of the restaurant.
It’s honestly hard to feel comfortable eating somewhere after witnessing something like that firsthand. I really hope the restaurant takes hygiene and health standards more seriously moving forward, because customers trust that the people running the place are following basic sanitation practices.
I would like to mention that everything else was great had a terrific pork belly fajita !!!
It was a little noisy to hear everyone inside. And the cold door opening by the kitchen was a little annoying. They fill up so make reservations. Parking in the North deck is easiest if you’re going.
This is a Ford Fry restaurant- be sure to collect a matchbook!
They have outside seating available. Avalon is such a nice place to walk around when weather is nice so save time for that. My dinner with a $6 corona and cheese dip was $50.
I did have trouble contacting them. I made reservations on Open Table and needed to add a few people and the OpenT website said to call…but no one would answer or return my call. They also have an annoying AI system that would hang up on me. I finally called one day at 3pm and was able to bypass AI and get someone to answer and update our reservation. Might be good if they tested that system more.
The star of the visit was our server, who was INCREDIBLY courteous. At one point, she went out of her way to suddenly and pointedly tell us not to eat the beans and rice that were brought for the table, She didn’t tell us why but then proceeded to bring out a new rice and beans that looked slightly different. I strongly believe she noticed that we’d all ordered vegetarian items earlier, and she thus had these remade without animal products. Genuinely, this gesture wowed me, and I wish I had her name to formally thank her for her profound kindness and professionalism!
Prices were more-than-reasonable for the portion sizes, which were incredibly large! I ordered the Huevos Mexicanos, which came as a sky-high plate of scrambled eggs and looked as stunning as all the plates that came to the table. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get much flavor or salt, though I think it’s because I removed cheese from the dish.
Overall, this was such a memorable brunch because of the great company and phenomenal service on a beautiful day. Would recommend visiting!
My family and I have been coming here for years. It has always been our favorite Mexican/Tex-Mex go to. However, the last two visits didn’t hit the mark. After the first not so great visit, I left the complaint alone as all restaurants have off days. However, for this visit, I called in advance to make a reservation for 14 people for my husbands birthday. I spoke to the general manager and he informed me there was a table that could accommodate all of us. This was awesome news! He was super friendly and secured the reservation. However, upon arriving and waiting for the tables to be ready, we were unfortunately sat outside during one of the many cold fronts Georgia has been facing. I was not informed we would be having our meal outside. They did have heaters, but everyone was disappointed and freezing. Not to mention we had several small children in our party, including an infant. Service was good and our drinks stayed full. We ordered the queso and guacamole for appetizers. The my were both delicious but the waitress dropped the chips that came with the guacamole promising to bring us more but never did. I ordered my usual, the hard shell beef tacos. Unfortunately, this is the second time the meat was undercooked and extremely pink. I didn’t eat my food and didn’t mention it to the server as I should have. The party all got meals but no one received beans and rice with their meals. $18 for 3 tacos and no sides. This was so off par for this restaurant. I have tried to call the restaurant a few times to speak the the GM about our experience but I keep getting told that there is not a manager available or they are in meetings. I think it’s time to find new Tex Mex food…
