Social Profile:

Ella Rea Gray was born on January 20, 1913, in Clay County, Mississippi. She was the oldest daughter of Jennie Lou Davidson and John Gray. With segregation at its height, the Gray family sought solace and togetherness through love, laughter, and of course cooking. Ella Rea kept her head in the books completing her 9th grade education when the average grade for African-Americans at that time was 3rd grade. She was just as steadfast in learning the ingredients in the meals prepared by her mother. Her down-home cooking is filled with soulful grace. Every bite is an adventure, a tender reminder of yesterday.

Cozy go-to lures locals for hearty soul food, including fried chicken, catfish & homestyle sides.

Food is okay, sometimes inconsistent. My husband loves the oxtails. Not enough rice on to go orders and usually have to make extra once we get home. I love the greens, wish the meat wasn’t so finely chopped up into them so it makes it easier to take out. The mac and cheese doesn’t taste like it used to, nor the yams. Going forward, I’ll avoid Sunday as it’s busy with after church guests dining in and lots of deliveries and carry out. Sunday is when it becomes obvious that they need a new location.

The food is excellent and actually plentiful for the price. Workers were nice but they appeared very busy due to so many people placing phone orders for delivery on New Years Day (must be very popular). I got the Swai catfish, blackeyed peas, yams, potato salad and cobbler which was REAL cobbler (I should have got some butter pecan ice creak for this). The atmosphere for me (12 o clock on a holiday) was nice and quiet, but seating is limited so you might want to make a reservation. So far my favorite in Vegas since Big Mama’s Rib Shack closed down. Im not sure that its possible for the food to get any better with prices so reasonable!

I visited EllaEm’s Soulfood in Las Vegas based on a recommendation from a local I met after arriving—and wow, it did not disappoint! I ordered the swai fish along with greens, mac & cheese, potato salad, and yams. Every single dish was packed with flavor, just like a home-cooked meal from someone’s grandma. The portions were generous, and although I couldn’t finish everything, the leftovers were even better the next day.
The customer service was exceptional. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in and seated immediately—no wait at all. The atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable. I did try the Kool-Aid, but it was way too sweet for me, so I stuck with water. Honestly, that’s the only thing I’d change.
Overall, EllaEm’s is a solid 10/10! I can’t wait to come back on my next trip to Vegas. Thank you, ElleEm’s, for an amazing experience!

”From the moment I walked through the door, I felt an incredibly warm and wonderful welcome. The service was amazing, but the food was the true star—everything was delicious and seasoned to perfection. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish!”

Been multiple times and both times were great. First time, went with my dad and it was awesome. Second time had a togo order, but believe me, once I plated it, it didn’t stay long on the plate. Very delicious.

This place was delicious! Mac & cheese was on point, candied yams(although I like a lil more butter and nutmeg in mine) but they were still a hit, my pork chops were cooked to perfection, and my black eyed peas and cornbread were good too. Food was fresh and hot. Prices were affordable and you get a lot of food. I definitely had leftovers. 3 people could’ve ate from my plate. I will return whenever I visit Vegas for sure only thing I’ll say is the order are a lil bit of a wait when you dine in so next time I’m going to order over the phone or online then eat it in the restaurant.

The food is amazing. 10s all around!
Rib Sandwich – Tender and flavorful.
Chicken wings – PERFECT
Snapper Sandwich – Gone before we could take a pic.
Now for the sides—
Potato salad so good my husband lied at the table and said mine was the best ever in the world.
Mac – flavor, cheese on point
But the YAMSSSS MELT IN YOUR MOUTH..
The mashed potatoes and gravy, you will regret not ordering them… THE GARLIC!!
DO NOT come in there rushing because GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME.
I can’t wait to eat my left overs!

Staff was very friendly and had a nice laid back southern hospitality atmosphere. The catfish dinner was so good it knocked me out for an hour when I got back home! Try the grape Kool-Aid too!

The food phenomenal! Little too much salt on the black eyed peas and the cabbage needs bacon in my opinion (Texas boy) other than that, I highly recommend this place. Food didn’t even make it out the truck lol.
