I haven’t been to Friendly Farms restaurants since 1982. The decor has changed but the food is still like what I remembered when I was in my twenties.

The only thing that is sad is that they no longer have the gift shop.

The fried shrimp was just like I remembered it. There was more ice cream choices for dessert. All the sides are the same that I remember from when I was a kid until my 20s.

You still go in order and pay before your seat it which I love.

Took my husband there for his birthday because he had never been. He was okay with it but I loved it because it brought back so many memories of going with my immediate family my grandmother and my aunts and uncles and cousins.

We had a 80th birthday party for my father with about 25 people in attendance. Our reservation was at noon but we were told to make sure that our entire party was there or we wouldn’t be seated. So we asked everyone to be there at 11:45 AM. When we arrived, we found the restaurant doesn’t open until noon. My husband went in and spoke to a nice lady who told us that they had just mopped the floors but if we were careful, we were welcome to come in. We got everybody together and got to the door and we were told by another lady who was not very friendly that we were not allowed to enter until they opened. We had a couple of elderly people with walkers and they were made to stand in the lobby because it was cold and damp outside. We had one person who was late arriving, and the lady at the cash register was not very friendly, even though I tried very hard to be extra friendly. Maybe they should consider changing the name of the restaurant. The waitresses were great. The food was average and the portions I thought were a little small, but all in all everything was good. We did have a two hour time limit, which made us rush a little bit, especially with elderly people. I don’t usually like to give bad reviews, but they definitely have room for improvement. Especially with the amount of money we paid for this party. Also, you should really try harder to be a little more friendly.

It was a weird dining experience. I had heard so much hype about this place – I really wanted to be impressed. To start, I had planned to order the Eggplant Parmesan, but it was sold out. I found out from my SIL that it is always sold out. This is their only vegetarian option, BTW. I’m not vegetarian, but just saying… so I quickly had to order something else so I picked ham, as it’s one of the few non-fried options on the menu. What I was served was a large dinner plate covered completely in a slice of ham – it was HUGE! It was good, but could/should have been about 75% smaller. I think everyone at our table took some of their dinner home. The food was good but nothing exceptional. Oh, did I mention the price? It’s very expensive! I heard during the week they serve food grown/raised on the farm, but not on the weekends. Of course they don’t charge less on the weekend for the non-farm-to-table ingredients. The service was great, though – no complaints there. I don’t plan to eat here again. For that kind of money, there are better places to go, IMHO.

Everyone mainly mentions the food and the service, well it’s because it’s simply the finest you’ll find of any family restaurant anywhere. We are always trying to find people who have never been here before as an excuse to go again. (Not that you need one)
But to see the look on their faces as they experience it for the first time.
But I want to mention the thrill on my daughter’s face. It’s a true adventure each and every time we come.
And don’t forget to take some of it home with you. Like iced raisin bread!!!

Good food, friendly efficient staff and pleasant country views. Included starters were sweet buns, Apple butter, slaws, and cottage cheese. The crab cake had lumps and the chicken was juicy. Sides were hot and fresh served family style. Everyone gets a scoop to finish off the meal.

I took my wife and Mother out for mother’s day dinner here. I feel like we go every year lol. It’s a nice drive to get there, probably about an hour but worth the meal. Since it was Mothers day it was packed. People waiting inside and outside. Nice area outside to walk around and enjoy the view. Our wait was about 50 mins before we got seated. If you never been there before you will pay for your meal before you are seated. If you ask me…every restaurant should do this. We always get the crabcakes. My wife got two crabcakes for $60 and I got one for $33 . My Mom got some kind of country ham for $24. The sides are endless. Starts with cold sides like pears, apple butter, cottage cheese, cole slaw and rolls. Then they bring green beans, corn and fries. All the food was great. Never a complaint. Crab cakes were excellent. Corn was great. Ham was good. Etc etc etc . Server was very nice. Looking past the crowdiness the atmosphere inside was nice. They sell pies and gourmet candies in the waiting area. I’m posting a few photos. Not the best pics but after waiting almost an hour to be seated all I could think about was eating lol. So we may have started before taking pics crossed my mind. Giving 5 out 5 stars.

Absolutely love this place if you want all American food with a taste of Maryland this is where to go. It’s out in farm country, simple farm vibes.

My second time coming here. Got the crab cakes and fried chicken(got this last time too, worth) both were seasoned well and cooked perfectly.

They do simple things right, is the best way to describe this place. You pay one meal per person, I think you can share for extra charge, but sides and drinks are included/unlimited. Good deal IMO. Worth the side trip off 95 if going back and forth from NY area to DC.

The first time was an extended family meal and it was so good that Mom and i had to return for the chicken since she didn’t get it the first time and we were all raving about it and i was craving it again already! Have to say that the service wasn’t as fast the second time but the food was consistently hot, fresh and delicious! Will i return.. i sure plan on it even though i live in texas!

I don’t know how I’ve never done a review on this delicious restaurant. My family has been coming here for years and the food has never lost quality or taste. Friendly farm has the BEST crab cake and chicken out there! The crab cake is all lump…literally! The chicken is fresh and fried to perfection and not greasy. Everything is served family style with delicious appetizers such as my personal favorites the sugar biscuits and fried apples. The dinner sides are also family style including fries, fresh corn, and green beans. And we can’t forget about the ice cream dessert with many flavors to choose from. The staff are always nice too! I have always had positive dining experiences here and would highly recommend to anyone!

Friendly Farms is a pleasant dining experience. It is a fun place to go for a special reason. The excitement for making the beautiful drive has changed over the years. The wait staff are incredible. The front staff are rude. Every time I have been there, I feel rushed to decide my order whether it is busy or not. They need to learn to smile. They are just crotchety. When people are spending this kind of money, first impressions go a long way!
