Amazing ambiance and incredible sushi. Really surprised by how fresh and tasty everything was. My wife and I ordered the 12 piece combo and enjoyed every piece. Enjoyed the crispy rice sushi pieces. I’ve had it at another restaurant but found the execution here to be better. The happy hour eggplant tempura took us both by surprised. It was spicy sweet with the perfect crispiness. We’d definitely come back!

We’ve been to the River North location multiple times but the Lincoln Park location is so beautiful! Absolutely adored it! Food is always consistent and good and the staff was wonderful! We got the 3 handroll pack, beef n bop, and the d-luxe nigiri set. All delicious!

Had a great time with my server. Had the restaurant week meal for lunch which was super flavorful and beautifully presented. Only downside was I didn’t get to try the chocolates when I got my food boxed up. Would definitely go again tho.

I’m giving this three stars because while the food remains decent, the service during our last visit was genuinely bizarre and off-putting. This is particularly disappointing because Sushi San had become our regular Saturday afternoon treat, and we’ve had plenty of other visits where the service was excellent. Unfortunately, it only takes one bad experience to sully the entire reputation of a place.
A few things happened this time that just didn’t sit right:
Questionable Hygiene: I watched the bartender pick up a garnish that had fallen off a drink, and instead of grabbing a fresh one, they just plopped the same piece right back in. It’s a basic food safety expectation that if something hits a surface, you replace it. Seeing that handled so casually was a huge red flag.
Passive-Aggressive Service: When I asked for a water refill, the response was weirdly hostile. Instead of just filling the glass, the bartender slid the cup towards me with a “do it yourself” energy. If you’re busy, I get it, but there’s no need for that kind of friction when a guest makes a standard request.
It’s a shame because we really enjoyed making this a weekly habit, but this level of unprofessionalism makes me think twice about keeping Sushi San at the top of our weekend rotation. I am willing to share the specific date and time of this visit in a DM if management would like to follow up.

We came to Sushi-San for lunch because our friends had been hyping it up. Turns out, they were right.
The food was fantastic and so much of it was gluten-free friendly. We started out with the tuna crispy rice and it absolutely kicked things off. I was in a true sushi mood so I went for the 8 piece nigiri. They make one substitution because one of the salmons has gluten in the sauce but it was great. I’m not normally a California roll guy but the lobster California roll was also delicious. We closed it all off with the beef n bop which is a great closer that really fills you up. It’s plenty of food and great to share so I’d highly recommend. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, Sushi-San was one of the best eats in all of Chicago.

The food was great! It gives you date night vibes , but also perfect to just hang out and grab some delicious sushi with friends. Live the avocado crispy rice ! It was bomb! Would defined keep going back !

Really fantastic spot for a date, dinner with friends, or even by yourself! That atmosphere is wonderful and they vent in a wonderful soft warming fragrance. This does not take away in anyway from the fantastic food you will have.
We came for the Brunch and well we want to come back to try more things.
Get the French toast and order some karaage chicken nuggets – one the best combos for brunch you could possibly have!
Staff is awesome, they are polite, friendly, and helpful!

I had an incredible dining experience at Sushi-San in Lincoln Park! The roasted edamame was perfectly seasoned and addictive, and the seaweed salad was fresh and flavorful. Both the spicy salmon roll and the lobster California roll were beautifully prepared and bursting with taste. The quality of the fish and attention to detail really stood out. Friendly service and a great atmosphere made the visit even better—definitely a five-star experience!

My wife and I came here after our wedding for our first meal as husband and wife, 10/10 experience. We had 3 rolls of sushi, 5 pieces each, and the chicken wings. Food was phenomenal, no complaints at all. Everything tasted fresh and had so much flavor. We were gifted a glass of champagne by a gentleman at the bar and the staff treated us to a dessert. Our waiter was Alec was great. The ambience is upscale and modern, very beautiful on the inside. I don’t have a single complaint about this place at all. I’d recommend to anyone.
