The restaurant features a distinct retro ambiance, with walls decorated with old movie posters, flip phones, board games, and cassette tapes. The service is equally welcoming, with jovial, engaging, and friendly employees who bring your food directly to the table. The space provides a decent amount of seating options and a convenient self-service station for napkins, straws, and condiments.
The menu is known for its fun item names and diverse offerings, including several vegan and vegetarian options. During our visit, we ordered The Devil Wears “Burrata” ($14.00) and the Cardi B.uffalo Chicken Crunch ($13.50), along with a Nitro Cold Brew and Raspberry Lemonade. The food portions are notably large and feature well-combined flavors, though some items can be a bit oily.
The efficiency of the kitchen and staff is impressive; there was no line to order, and we waited 10 minutes maximum for our food. Everything arrived at the same time and was served warm. Between the quirky decor and the hearty, creative sandwiches, it is an excellent spot for a quick yet satisfying meal in the city.

The place was jumping when we got there at around 11:30 because of the good weather and the local college crowd wandering in.
Well known for its sandwiches and its retro decor, the place is filled with kitschy items on the walls, a Photo Booth, and a free retro arcade video game console in the back.
Service was OK; the staff is young, polite, and attentive. Food was OK. We had The Devil Wears “Burrata” ($14) and The Paradise Panini ($13.50). The former was a bit greasy and the latter was more like a fancy grilled cheese… still good though.

This place is so great! If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, the decor is so much fun! But the food is incredible! The Notorious BLT is one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten! These are big enough to split… unless you are really hungry!

Love BDD 🙂 Always such a fun vibe. I ordered the plantloaf sammie with a lavender haze refresher smoothie, and my friend ordered the chicken salad melt with an iced caramel mocha latte. We also split some seasoned fries on the side! Everything was delicious, unique, and thoughtfully crafted.

Yum yum!!! I was craving a vegetarian hot dog so bad and I read online (from previous menus) that they had a great selection. Sad they don’t offer veggie dogs anymore but super stoked to see their other vegetarian options! I got fries, the chic feel ay veg sandwich, and the cauliflower! So yummy! Just what I needed to fix my craving! Cool spot. Takeout was pretty quick on a Thursday holiday weekend!

The staff and owner, Wes, went so far above and beyond that I don’t even have the words. Due to an issue with Uber (completely not the restaurants fault), my order didn’t make it where it needed to go—but instead of brushing it off, Wes immediately stepped in and made sure it was taken care of.
My friend and her son were finishing up a 24-hour stay at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Hospital and were exhausted and hungry. Wes personally ensured they still got their food, and one of their amazing staff members, McKenzie, hand-delivered it herself.
That level of care, compassion, and humanity is rare.
Brown Dog Deli didn’t just provide a meal—they showed up for people when it mattered most. Incredible food, incredible staff, and an owner who genuinely cares. I will ALWAYS support this place and recommend it to everyone. THANK YOU BDD!!!

I’ve eaten here several times and the food is always great. The flavors are consistent and I genuinely enjoy coming here. The only downside lately has been the fries — the last few visits they’ve been cold, like they may have been sitting out for a while. That’s disappointing because the fries are actually my favorite part of the meal. I’m hoping this is just a small oversight because everything else has been really good!
