This is an original Maid-Rite diner! It’s well maintained and clean. If you love loose meat sandwichs, great breakfast and the Midwest’s best handmade shakes stop here.
The waitress was friendly, nice, and made sure I had everything I needed.
It’s an open kitchen so you can watch the cook prepare your food.
Comfortable booths, clean tables and lots of counter space.
I highly recommend this Maid-Rite.

I felt nostalgic and went to MaidRite. Made wrong was more like it. Waitress wants to do Tik Tok videos as side income. Only know because we were told. Coffee tasted terrible, food subpar at best. 2 hairs in my eggs, disgusting. Waitress asked if I needed anything, we’ll maybe not hair in my eggs. The restaurant looked really nice inside and kept very clean. The young waitress who said she was there for only two months. Did an absolutely fantastic job! As if she’s been doing this for years. I liked how the menu was set up. Well organized with plenty of meals to select from. Without overwhelming a person. The comfort food itself tasted great. Served hot and not taking forever to receive. An overall great atmosphere and experience!

Ate here last week after years of not going and it was great. So good we went again tonight. Food was HORRIBLE. Service wasn’t great. Chili warm (like room temperature, not hot) maid rite was COLD, fries soggy and way under cooked. Also charged for a large shake instead of the small with basket, like I ordered. My husband had the open faced chili rite thing and his whole meal was also COLD. All the waitress said to the cold food was ohhh Im so sorry. Spent almost $60. Safe to say we’ll skip Maid Rite next time. Maybe do better? Maybe check your temps throughout the day/night. Just so disappointed.

When I lived in California, Maid-Rite was on my personal restaurant bucket list. Now living in Illinois, I am able to check some restaurants off the list!
Nice diner atmosphere. Friendly staff. The Cheese-Rite was EXCELLENT, better than I expected, but it has less meat than I saw in restaurant shows and I didn’t need a spoon to eat the excess meat. Fries were good.
I wish they offered delivery!

We were staying in Iowa, but we had to go to Illinois for a tender loin and made rite sandwich. Not far from the interstate, a cute dinner atmosphere, and pretty big portions. We opted for the bigger sandwiches on the menu and shared. The service checked in a few times. Definitely recommended.

I ordered a Chili Shoe… the cheese sauce wasnt on it. When I address the waitress, she said nit didn’t come with cheese, but asked the kitchen staff anyway and indeed got my cheese sauce. Easy easy lemon squeezy… no fuss, no muss. My daughter wasn’t a fan of anything she ordered, but she is indeed extremely picky. So, overall it was good. Will come back whenever I venture out that way.

The place is nice and has potential. Sometimes it’s filthy during the slow hours, worn out furniture, and the staple for this place has really gone downhill. I was excited to get a Mega-CheeseRite, even paid the extra $0.80 for “two slices” of cheese. It turns out that the two slices of cheese isn’t what that means at all, like it says in the menu. It is two pumps of off-yellow goo that they pass off as slices of cheese. They tried to tell me that people “prefer” the yellow goo to cheese anyway. I asked “do you HAVE REAL cheese?” I guess it’s only reserved for specials. Just tired of the disappointment when I go here. I keep giving them chances to improve, but they don’t. It’s really sad that the owners are leaning toward cheap, and not the quality that they used to have.
