I feel badly for having to leave such a negative review, but this experience was terribly disappointing.

The location right on the beach is stellar…but the Zona Romantica location does not have the tables in the pool that are so “viral.” Maybe the Nuevo location?

The servers here tried very hard to make this a fine dining experience…and the menu prices certainly think it is, but it is anything but.

1. Daiquiris: Not sure if they had any alcohol whatsoever. One never even made it to the table.

2. Surf and Turf taco appetizer: Glad we ordered this since 2 out of the 3 meals we ordered, were inedible. The shrimp they’re supposed to be so famous for was dull flavor, though.

3. Whole Red Snapper: The only entree that was enjoyed and could recommend.

4. Lobster Enchiladas: Lobster so finely shredded it was barely distinguishable as lobster with a strange smokey sauce that overshadowed any other flavor and was out of place.

5. Carne Asada: The steak was barely able to be cut with a knife it was so tough and carried such an acrid smoke flavor I actually had to spit out my one and only bite. It was like sucking on charcoal.

Lastly, this dinner for two cost over $200 USD—robbery for the quality.

We love Blue Shrimp. Food is great. The service is phenomenal. Our waiter on 12/24/2025 was incredible. The view and atmosphere is incredible. Worth the high price. Family of 4 the cost was high but it was the holiday. We get it. What we don’t like is the owner giving a ridiculous exchange rate on US dollar to peso. The exchange right now is 18.5 pesos to 1 US dollar. The owner of Blue Shrimp only gives you a 16 peso to 1 US dollar to make more money for himself. It didn’t sit right with us. If you go do not use your card. Bring cash!

We had dinner at Blue Shrimp in Puerto Vallarta. It is a very good restaurant with an excellent location, great ambiance, and attentive service.
The food was good and offered a wide variety of options. The service truly stood out and was exceptional throughout the evening.
That said, the prices are noticeably higher compared to other restaurants in the area. We ended up paying approximately 1,500 to 2,000 pesos more than what we paid for dinner at other restaurants during our stay in Puerto Vallarta.
Overall, it is a good dining experience, but the pricing is on the steep side relative to similar nearby options.

We come here alot when in PV. Enrique has severed us at the bar now for 2 years and is a great guy. Super attentive and makes an amazing margarita. Jesus we met this trip for the first time and is probably the friendliest person you will ever meet. All of the staff really is amazing. Right off the beach makes it a great location. Had dinner to celebrate my birthday and everyone made it very special.

I had clam chowder soup and lobster enchiladas, best meal I had during my 7 days trip! Absolutely going back. The chef did that. I went for lunch so the restaurant was fairly empty so I’m not sure what it’s like in peak season or with a full house. My greeter and servers were very friendly and attentive. My only issue was the drinks price. $350 for Aperol spritz that I’ve been paying $140-$150 for at all other restaurants and it didn’t taste as good. So I may not do drinks when I return but the food … so good

WOW, the best frozen cucumber margarita. This is the second year coming back for it, great ceviche and table side guacamole. Pedro is our favourite server but the whole team is always so welcoming!

The dinners are very good and nicely plated. We enjoyed sitting by the railing, still inside but close to the beach. If you sit on the beach you will have vendors bugging you too buy souvenirs. The staff is courteous and very friendly. We were lucky enough to see a whale and the sun set.

For a restaurant that was always one of our favorites it was a major disappointment last night. We ordered 2 Cadillac margaritas that came as plain reposado margaritas, when we told the waiter he tried telling us that they were the right drinks. Nothing was brought to our table before our dinner, and we had to ask for our dinner rolls after the meal was served and couldn’t get any butter. The coconut shrimp (5 shrimp) were good but they should be at almost $9 per shrimp. The side dish of white rice that came with the shrimp had one slice of carrot one small piece of broccoli and one very small piece of cauliflower in it. The ceasar salad was good but at over $20 it should be. The bill was $114 us with out tip for one person with one margarita and one cup of coffee. It is the first time I ever had a waiter ask what I wanted to leave him for a tip.

It’s Christmas morning and they have a full staff running great service and great food.
– The shrimp flautas are a MUST.
– The chia pudding is HUGE and fresh.
– I treated myself to a Christmas morning passion fruit marg and it was excellent as well.
Well done!

The location is fantastic, beautiful beach views. The food was disappointing. We ordered the jumbo coconut shrimp. They were dry and HEAVILY breaded. The fish taco were also dry and lacked flavour. Very little fish, lots of shredded cabbage. The shrimp queso fondito was mediocre. Service was fantastic, very friendly staff. It’s really unfortunate that the food was bad when they’re in such a beautiful location. I would recommend this place for drinks and go elsewhere for food.
