We celebrated Valentine’s Day at Bohanan’s a week early due to booked reservations.

The drink list leans heavily on wines, with only a few cocktails. I asked if they could make a raspberry lemon drop martini, and they did. It was outstanding! My husband enjoyed their old fashioned.

They first brought out a Cream cheese candied jalapeño dip. It was so delicious and surprisingly not spicy. For our appetizer, we had the Jumbo Lump crab cake with Lemon Beurre Blanc and Rémoulade. It was one of the best we’ve had if not the best. Highly recommend!

For our entrees, my husband had the 16 oz ribeye which he loved. I had the A5 Wagyu filet (an off-menu item). Our sides included Lobster cream corn, Mashed potatoes and Asparagus. Sides were good and well-prepared. Now for my Wagyu, it was delicious until about 3/4 through, when I found a hair. I quietly and politely mentioned it to the waiter. He pulled out a small flashlight to look at it. He said he would have to tell the manager. I told him not to worry about it. He and the manager were very apologetic and offered to make me another one but by then I was already full. I told them it was ok. Not to worry about it. We continued with dessert and had crème brûlée which was good. When they brought out the check, the server told us the steak would not be charged which we greatly appreciated. After returning home and reviewing photos, I could clearly see the hair in the Wagyu from a zoomed-in view, though I didn’t notice it during the meal until about 3/4 of the way through.

Despite the unfortunate hair incident, everything was lovely. The staff were friendly and professional. The atmosphere was pleasant with dimmed lighting.

The need for a very high-end dining establishment is as readily apparent today as ever when entertaining clients, romancing someone special, or treating family. Bohanan’s is perfect for all of the above.
Our table was comprised of dear friends meeting over business and we had a spectacular time. Jesús led us through a wine list to top all wine lists with a world tour of robust reds, pairing each expertly with our meals. Steaks, seafood, quail, sides, desserts, everything was a genuine treat for the palate and feast for the senses.

I took my wife here for our Anniversary dinner and I will say this is one of the best places that we have gone for an experience and no place is perfect, but this was perfect for us for the occasion from the vast wine list to the Tastiest choice of steaks we decided on the A5 Steak and salmon that was cooked to our liking. The room was a little louder than we anticipated. But overall From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left it was an awesome experience . Thank you to our server Rudy for helping make our anniversary just a little bit better.

Wow! No wonder this is the nicest steakhouse in San Antonio! From the hostess, to the bar staff, the maître d’, and the wait staff, EVERYONE was so kind and attentive and really made our visit special.

Our table wasn’t quite ready when we got there, we arrived a little early, but we were invited to wait in the lounge and order a drink or hors d’oeuvres if we were so inclined. The bar/lounge is open seating so if you don’t have a reservation they have a modified version of their menu that you can order from there, but I would highly recommend making a reservation so you can eat upstairs with the full menu.

You know you’re in an elegant establishment when they get you dark napkins instead of white to prevent lint on your dark clothes. And the palate cleansing sorbet just before the entree was a nice touch!

Micheal was our server and he was absolutely superb. Very professional, so polite and courteous, with a perfect balance of humor. The food was amazing. We had the Akaushi, scallops, oysters, snapper, and veal (there were four of us!) and everyone was happy with their food. The cocktails are sublime!

As for dress code, I’m not sure if they have one. We saw men in jeans and ladies in miniskirts so they don’t seem to be strict. But the setting is so beautiful (live music downstairs that sounded like the trio stepped right out of the 20s!) and the service was so phenomenal, I’m glad we dressed up a little because it felt right. We’ve lived in San Antonio 7 years now and regret not coming sooner!

It’s not too noisy but whatever acoustics they have for sound dampening also keeps noise from traveling so it’s still a little hard to hear guests in your own party unless you lean in. Not a big deal, but something to note if you’re hearing impaired.

Don’t walk, RUN to Bohanan’s!

Bohanan’s Prime Steaks & Seafood is truly in a league of its own. From the moment we walked in, it was clear why this restaurant is considered one of San Antonio’s finest. The service is polished, attentive, and genuinely hospitable without ever feeling rushed or rehearsed. Every member of the team — from the host stand to our servers — carried themselves with the kind of professionalism you only see in top-tier dining.

What impressed me most, though, was the consistency. Every plate arrived at the correct temperature, every drink was refilled without asking, and the staff checked in just enough to make the evening feel special. This is the kind of restaurant that elevates a celebration. Whether you’re marking a milestone anniversary, a birthday, or hosting a large family gathering, Bohanan’s executes effortlessly.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable fine-dining experience in San Antonio, Bohanan’s is the one. Exceptional food, flawless service, and a timeless atmosphere — absolutely worth every visit.

I celebrated my birthday at this steakhouse in San Antonio, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The steak was outstanding cooked to perfection, tender, and flavourful in every bite. We paired it with champagne, which made the evening feel even more festive.
The highlight of the meal was the dessert presentation, which came out flaming in spectacular fashion. It wasn’t just food: it was a performance! On top of that, the staff added a personal touch with a “Happy Birthday” message, which made me feel genuinely appreciated and celebrated.
The service was impeccable: attentive, professional, and warm without ever being intrusive. The entire team clearly takes pride in creating a first-class dining experience. The ambiance was equally memorable, with a stylish and comfortable atmosphere, a pleasant mix of guests around us, and a beautiful view from the window that made the evening even more special.
All in all, it was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday: excellent food, wonderful service, and a setting that makes you want to linger. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dinner.

Bohanan’s was an incredible experience We had a group of 10 and were given a private room which made the evening feel so special. Our waiter was fantastic—so knowledgeable about wines, which was perfect for the wine drinkers at the table. The presentation was beautiful, and every dish was spot on. Between us, we enjoyed steak, scallops, lobster, lobster mac & cheese, and plenty of fresh vegetables—everything was so delicious And I must say…the martinis were amazing! From start to finish, it was such a memorable night. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in San Antonio
