This place looks amazing on the inside. One of the coolest looking bars that I have seen in the greater Cincinnati area. They have an excellent bourbon selection, and the bar tender was able to make me a delicious mint julip. The place used to be a phone operator switch board called the Citizens Telephone Building. It has amazing architecture on the inside, you just don’t see buildings like this anymore. Staff were friendly, and the bar tender was great. I would definitely come back again.

Visiting from Chicago, so I am not a local, but this place made me wish I was. It didn’t go off without a hitch, but they made up for what had been missed. Read on for more.
I ordered online for pickup. I chose the federal burger (with onions, tomatoes, and provolone cheese – no grand slam sauce, which is a thousand island type of sauce, but I asked for it on the side when I got there) and a tray of smoked nachos with no jalapeños and no sour cream. I also opted to do cheese sauce on the side so that way when I got to my hotel, the nachos wouldn’t be all soggy and soft.
When I picked it up, I was completely impressed with the look, feel, and general ambience of the restaurant/bar. It just had a general feeling that made me wish I had been able to go with some friends. I was impressed.
Unfortunately, after I walked with the food, back to my hotel, I ended up finding out that they had neglected to include the cheese sauce on the side. When I called and was directed to the manager, Rebecca, she was extremely apologetic and offered to either credit me or refire my the nachos. I said that I would love to come get them, but my burger would be cold by the time I got back she offered to re-fire the burger as well. I really wanted to have the full experience for my first time eating from Smoke Justis. Rebecca was absolutely amazing and made sure that I was taken care of well despite the issue that I had. I agreed and said that I would give the original meal to the front desk attendant at the hotel. He ended up being very excited to get a free meal, especially one from Smoke Justis. (Hint: Remember to make sure they put your cheese sauce in the bag!)
Now for the food:
The tray of smoked nachos were amazing and I definitely I’m glad that I got the cheese sauce. It completely pulled the dish together and it was absolutely amazing. The only problem is that they were so good that I had a harder time getting to the fries and burger.
By the time I got to the fries and burger I was almost completely full. The fries were really good and they were seeming to be homemade sliced fries, but either way were great. Then I tasted the burger… wow, just wow. The flavor from the burger, was one of the best I have ever had. No sauce or anything else. Whatever they used to season the meat was incredible.
Bottom line, I definitely will be back. Their commitment to excellence, both with the food and with the service, is apparent.

I wanted so bad to love it as my husband loves their bbq Mac n cheese. I’m gluten free so keep in mind I had less options. I ordered the meat plate with greens and potato’s salad. I’ve never had hard potatoes in my potato’s salad so that was a surprise and disappointment. The greens were fine nothing stood out about that. Pulled pork was really good but I’ve never had bad pulled pork anywhere really. Brisket was a good portion but for $24 I would pass. To me, The atmosphere is loud, cold, and dark. We went in January. I sat next to a window that was blowing freezing air on me since it wasn’t weather stripped. I had to blast the heat on when I got home to thaw out. Our waitress was great though! when we picked up to go nachos it was hard to get assistance to pay for it and pick it up at the bar. So it was cold nachos by the time they got it to us. The “nacho” cheese was weird like melted cheese and milk mixed together. But if you like bbq Mac n cheese, or the sandwiches looked good, this could be your place! Photo is my leftovers

Awesome place to visit! We were in town for a Bears/ Bengals game and came to Smoke Justis afterwards. The place was packed with all the games on, but we’re seated pretty quickly. For as crazy as it was, the service was great. Drinks came ice ice cold and quickly. The wings are a must! Meaty, juicy, smoky, with a great bite. We were gonna try a burger as well, but ordered a honey chx sandwich instead. That was great too! Very cool place.

We will definitely return. The food is good. Savory in seasonings, and spicy BBQ sauce. Plenty in portions. I’m not a sports fan by any means, the hubby is. So from the 6 big-screen tv’s, the crowd roared with excitement because of the college games, excitement was in the atmosphere, I started cheering and shouting too. This bar & grill reminded me of a Boston bar.

Went on a Monday for lunch with a friend and it was my first visit here. I had the mac and meat special with brisket. What a great dish! The melted cheddar on top along with the very juicy brisket inside was awesome! The waitress was very thorough in explaining how they do things and also the special for the day. The menu had a good selection of meals and the bar had a very good variety of drinks available. Plenty of seating with what appeared to be a trendy crowd. Definitely recommend. I hope to be back soon?

OK I will be thoroughly dissecting this experience so please remember I gave almost a a perfect 5. We were a table of five and we were sat on couches and a coffee table, I mean it worked it was just a new experience for me. There was only one server in the area we were in. She up sold, recommend and sold a lot of food! now this was a Sunday night and at the tail end of the rush. We started with pigs in a blanket and smoked wings. Im telling you they were both amazing but the wings were some of the best smoked wings I have ever had! They were out of Coleslaw, and beef ribs which we wanted and couldn’t get! The street tacos got two thumbs up as well as the fish sandwich two seats got a pick two meat and loved what they got. I got the pick three, pulled pork, sausage, and brisket (5.00 up charged) greens fries and cornbread.
Let’s start with the greens, tender and super flavor! The cornbread was on another level! Huge slice and moist!the pulled pork was tender a little fatty but delicious the sausage was actually spicy when advertised as such, not over cooked at all perfectly juicy! Not the brisket is the only thing I had an issue with and this is why, one slice at a significant upcharge it was a fatty slice so it should have been juicy but it was not. It needed a little more time it did not fold. For dessert we got the cobbler and pecan pie. The pecan i could not review it was not shared with me… the cobbler had a lot of cake not plot of fruit but I would still order it again. The staff was amazing from the host, server, runner, to management, everyone was accommodating and kept us informed when we could not get something. I am definitely going back!

A real nice cozy place to have some dinner and some drinks. There were some sports on the TVs and it was an easy place to watch a game!
I will say, unless we miss something we didn’t see any booths, all the tables were high tops with barstools as chairs. Just an FYI, if you’re looking for a booth. We didn’t see any!
The food was really good, great barbecue type food. I had the burger skillet mac & cheese, which was really good, not a huge helping so you won’t fill up on it. No sides came with it, kind of pricey for what you got, but it was really good.
My wife got the smoked meat plate with ribs, salad and chicken, it was really good and enough to feed one for sure.
The drinks were made really well as also, we had the old-fashioned and the mango cart beer.
Highly recommend recommended place, service was really good, our server was Jake who took really good care of us was friendly and professional !

Smoke Justis has an amazing atmosphere and Great service, waiter was very friendly, we had the smoked wings appetizer and they did not disappoint.
My meal was the smoked meat plate, the brisket was amazing, and the ribs were just ok, a little dry if I had to say anything negative, but not a deal breaker.
Our party also had the brisket Mac n cheese and thought is was delicious, although the last plate was the smoked chicken bacon ranch wrap that was middle of the line.
Overall we really liked Smoked Justis and will be back.
