As you walk in, you immediately notice the wall murals. On one side, chefs hard at work. On the other, anime customers happily enjoying their bowls. And yes, it is perfectly acceptable to make those loud slurping noises. Consider it a compliment to the chef.
Here is what we ordered:
• Signature Terakawa Ramen — 4.5/5 stars
A rich, lovingly made pork bone broth topped with sliced roast pork, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and a jammy egg. The straight, thin noodles were perfectly al dente and held their texture beautifully in the broth. The soup itself was deep, layered, and incredibly flavorful.
• Pork Belly Donburi — 4.5/5 stars
The pork belly was juicy and tender, sliced just right — not too thick and not paper thin. The flavor was rich and savory with a subtle sweetness from the soy dashi sauce. It was generously layered over a large bowl of seasoned rice and topped with scallions, pickled radish, and sesame seeds. The photo on the menu does not do this dish justice. I would have loved a jammy egg to take it over the top.
• Gyoza — 3.5/5 stars
Five pan fried pork dumplings served with dipping sauce. I personally would have preferred them a bit more crisp on the outside. The pork and cabbage filling was well balanced, and the dumplings were light in both flavor and texture. It was good.
The service was excellent. Willie, the owner, and Sung took great care of us. Sung frequently checked in to make sure our cups were full and that we had everything we needed.
I was told they have two locations: Philadelphia and Princeton Junction, NJ, where we dined. Both locations serve homemade recipes inspired by the Kumamoto region of Japan.
If ramen is your love language, this place will absolutely speak to your soul.
While I mentioned my shellfish allergy, I overheard the waiter ask the table next to me about shellfish allergies (since they didn’t mention anything), which made me more inclined to come back and try something else knowing they take it seriously
I was pleasantly surprised by both the food and the amazing service here. My go-to is the spicy ramen—it never disappoints! The flavor is spot on every time.
The bathroom is clean (which is always a plus), and the quality and quantity of the food are more than satisfying.
I’ve already been here three times in one week—definitely a new favorite!
But, I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best ramen I have ever eaten in my life and I’ve had a lot of really great ramen.
The service was also lovely, they are very nice.
I would definitely return to this spot when the next ramen craving hits.
Update: we returned & I added more photos! Still just as amazing.
