Sonny’s BBQ has a great curb appeal, and the interior gives off that classic BBQ joint vibe, cozy and inviting. The staff was friendly and service was impressively quick, even during a late dinner.
The menu is straightforward but has plenty of options for BBQ lovers. I went with the 4 meat combo: smoked chicken, sliced brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The brisket and chicken stood out with a solid smoke flavor and good seasoning. The pulled pork was fairly average, and while the ribs were tasty, they had been sitting a bit too long and were getting hard on the ends. Understandable for a late visit, but worth noting.
Sides were a mixed bag, beans were simple and satisfying, but the cornbread lacked flavor and felt like an afterthought.
Overall, it’s a decent spot. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but I’d definitely stop in again if I was nearby and craving BBQ.

Over all a great visit. My first time coming here but my family visits often. The food was spectacular and so many options. The sauces tasted great as well. I will say call way ahead of time if its more than a normal party of 4/5. We were a group of 14 and they got there requested a table at 5:15 and we were able to sit till about 6:50. But other than that it was a great trip there. Highly recommend if you like barbecue, we will be back in smaller numbers.

Decided to branch out and try some more of the local rock hill barbecue scene and was honestly left with a passable experience of Sonny’s aside from the disappointment of not receiving to-go silverware for the sides and being in a hotel that also doesn’t have any silverware lying out. The Cuban sandwich had a delicate smoky taste to it, but the oily garlic bread, unmelted Swiss cheese, and middle of the road Carolina gold sauce left a lot to be desired. And the steak burger was way too heavily salted for another member of the party to enjoy. Honestly the sides aren’t bad, but definitely left a lot to be desired for the pricing especially when you get Mission BBQ type of quality in return.

Had a birthday celebration for my mother. Needed to feed a crowd and although the cutoff time was done for online orders the next day, the staff worked in harmony to get my order together. The food was stellar and still hot when served! Everything was perfect and very delicious.

I came here on a thursday evening. There weren’t a lot of people here. So chose to sit at the bar.
I ordered beer and a shot of marker’s mark.
For appetizers, I ordered the barbecue pork egg rolls and the maple barbecue wings. The barbecue pork egg rolls tasted like chicken salad, wrapped in an egg roll wrapper. I detected no barbecue flavor at all.
The maple barbecue wings were extremely tender. Falling off the bone chicken wings?! This is just my guess, but I think they were baked, or boiled until they were done. Then, refrigerated, until ordered. And then rolled around in sauce. They were extremely tender with a hint of it of smokiness. But flavorless, except for the sauce.
I also ordered the 4 meat combo with pulled pork, sweet and smoky ribs. Sliced brisket, and chopped brisket. Original recipe, barbecue beans, and coleslaw. Also, cornbread.
By the time I ordered this, I was already two beers and two shots in, so I forgot to ask them for barbecue sauce.
My meal came with no sauce.
The brisket was super tender and tasted delicious. And so did the saint louis style ribs. Although I have to admit, i’ve never seen saint louis style ribs as small as baby back ribs. But I’m from the northwest. Maybe I don’t know the difference.
The pulled pork tasted very good also. Completely different from the chicken salad flavored egg rolls that I had ordered as an appetizer. And the beans and coleslaw were very good. I just wish I had barbecue sauce to go with this meal.
My server, I believe her name was Samantha, was absolutely awesome! If anyone deserves five stars, it is her. Everyone was friendly and polite. The restaurant was very clean. I did not use the facilities, so I can’t tell you what they were like.

This place is to die for. The food is incredible! No wonder Sonny’s BBQ has been around since 1968. My boyfriend and I ordered the Family meal for 4 online. We had it delivered to a truck stop where we were parked for the night. Normally I don’t really like Cornbread but their cornbread was cooked just right. It was moist. Not dry like most cornbread that I’ve had over the years. My boyfriend loved it so much, I believe he was snacking on it in the middle of the night. lol Hello…can we talk about the ribs? Wow‼️ Chopped brisket‼️ It melts in your mouth. The best‼️ Usually, if you order chopped brisket from another BBQ restaurant, it’s old, greasy and gross. I was hesitant about ordering it. I didn’t try the chicken but my boyfriend loved it. The BBQ sauce was incredible‼️ The sides we had were on point. My boyfriend and I kept on talking about how good the food was. Everything was more than great. See…I can’t stop writing about how great the food was. I can’t wait to eat the leftovers. I would have eaten everything if I wasn’t too full. Sonny’s BBQ needs to be 5 stars. The ratings do this place justice.

After a long weekend and a lot of traveling, I just wanted some really good food and comfortable environment. I got that and more. The BBQ and the sides were all great and the service was too. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Next time I’m traveling that way, I will definitely be stopping by.

My husband and I love Sonny’s! It’s our absolute favorite place to travel to for the best brisket, and we travel an hour and a half one-way to get there cause it’s that good! Even tried their competition sauce this time which was so delicious. Our waitress Sam was sweet, attentive, and courteous and made our visit all the more special.

What a gem! Stopped in at Rock Hill location to grab some Togo food after a day of shopping. My first time here. The entire staff could really give chicfila a run for their money with their customer service. A+ top notch service. Place was clean and the bar area is gorgeous. Had an hour ride home and food tasted just as fresh as it would had if we’d stayed to eat at the restaurant.
Will absolutely be back. Management deserves major kudos for such a pleasant experience.

Stopped in for a late week lunch tried the all you can eat ribs. I had dry rub with tots and potato salad. Tots were great; crispy like I like them, potato salad was a mayo base instead of mustard, I liked that too.
Ribs had good flavor but not overly meaty. Underside silverskin was not removed but it was all you can eat special so I can forgive that detail considering the preparation in bulk.
The real star was Demi. She took care of my order at the table and left nothing to be desired. Promptly refilled plates of ribs, glasses of soda and baskets of tots. Demi made the experience much better than the food alone. Thanks!
