Honeymoon Chicken Born from the playful culinary philosophy “where funky meets fancy,” Honeymoon Chicken takes the art of fried chicken to a new level of sophistication and creativity. The chef-curated menu is crafted by the illustrious king of BBQ, Chef Rob Sonderman, who first graced DC with his low and slow meat cookery at Federalist Pig. Best described as a love letter to the delicious majesty of fried chicken.

Came here because the wait for Menya Hosaki was very long. Eclectic, old school diner vibe….. fantastic fried chicken with extra crispy skin with moist meat. Honeymoon sauce tasted like mild honey sauce and complimented the chicken. The apple pie/tart and smores pie/tart was excellent. Lovely dough, perfect sweetness. Service was fast and excellent. Very laid back, kind service.

If you haven’t been to Honeymoon Chicken yet, you’re seriously missing out.

I had the French toast with tenders and the wings Honeymoon Style — and wow. Absolutely delicious doesn’t even begin to cover it. The French toast was perfectly cooked, sweet but not overpowering, and paired perfectly with the crispy, juicy tenders. And those Honeymoon Style wings? Packed with flavor, perfectly sauced, and cooked to perfection.

Honestly, once you have wings here, good luck finding a better place to get wings. They set the bar high.

On top of the incredible food, the atmosphere is such an upbeat vibe. The energy is contagious. The employees are genuinely happy and welcoming, and it instantly puts you in a great mood the second you walk in.

Amazing food, amazing people, amazing vibe. I’ll definitely be back… for a 5th time.

I’m visiting D.C. and my cousin took us here for dinner! 10/10 would definitely come again! All the food was so hot and fresh! Absolutely made with tender love! Every thing was cooked to perfection!
Don’t get me started on the dinner rolls :0 < 3!!!! And I loved their sauce selections. I mixed hot honey and their habanero. Shout out to the staff that closed on 2.26.25! The sweetest! So accommodating!

Honeymoon Chicken will knock your socks off.

It holds a Bib Gourmand nod from the Michelin Guide, and you understand why the moment the food hits the table. The space is a repurposed corner diner that keeps its charm while feeling fresh and intentional.

The food is outstanding. I find myself thinking about it long after I leave.

The kale slaw brings crunch and brightness. The honey Brussels strike that perfect balance of crisp and caramelized. The fried chicken is deeply flavorful with a crackling crust that holds up all the way through. And the honey biscuits? Soft, rich, and worth every bite.

This place delivers. Go.

Wowwwww to start…
Their sticky chicken wings were out of this world perfectly crispy, coated in a glossy, tangy sweet sauce with a hint of heat, and sprinkled with sesame seeds and herbs for that extra magic. Absolute perfection. I was honey dusted.

The service was impeccable, genuinely kind, warm, and attentive. The staff struck that rare balance between being present and letting you relax. They offered thoughtful suggestions, checked in just enough, and made sure everything felt easy and welcoming.

The vibe? Retro diner charm meets modern ease. The sunlight pouring through arched windows, and wood booths that feel cozy but chic. I loved the QR code menu system order whenever you want, no constant interruptions, just good food and good energy. The staff acts more like friendly guides than servers, curating a great experience without hovering.

It’s casual yet elevated, nostalgic yet fresh, the kind of place you could grab a quick bite that still feels special.

Everything is delicious, order one of everything.

Hineymoon NEVER misses! Whenever I travel from Baltimore to DC, I make sure I stop in and the service and food are always stellar! One day, I hope to order champagnes with my meal! But until then, the HOT HONEY MARGARITA IS A TOP CHOICE!! Love the Honeymoon!! I only wish it was bigger! I look forward to Honeymoon opening a second location with more seating! That is the only reason I give the atmosphere 3 stars!

The food was incredible! I enjoyed everything I had. Food is flavorful and well seasoned. This is some good chicken! I also appreciate the variety of options. Sat outside, not ideal because of the wind and insects, the interior didn’t accommodate a party of five. The service was fine; ordered from phone using a QR code on the table; food was served pretty quickly. We ordered some seasonal drinks as well and they were great. Highly recommend!

I had heard about this place a while ago because it looked interesting, but I avoided it at first since most hyped spots usually don’t live up to expectations, and I’d heard the food was just okay. That changed when I decided to stop by on 1/5/2025 since it was close to the monument during the lights, and honestly, I’m glad I did because this place did not disappoint. The chicken was fried perfectly, with incredibly crispy skin while still staying juicy on the inside. Some people might argue that fast-food chicken is better than hyped places, but if you think fast food beats Honeymoon, you’re completely wrong. The hot honey and mango habanero were easily my favorite sauces they offer. The buns were buttery and held everything together well, and the wedges were crispy and very potato-forward. If you’re looking for a fun chicken spot in the northern part of DC, Honeymoon is definitely a place you have to try at least once. I also wanted to give a big thanks to the staff for providing such a wonderful experience for me.

Easily a 10/10! It was my first visit to D.C. and a friend suggested I stop by Honeymoon; I’m so happy I did. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar (I went in early afternoon, so it was pretty empty.) I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. The portion size was perfect and the chicken itself wasn’t overly salty. I ordered a side of Brussel sprouts which were tasty as well. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in the city!

Honeymoon chicken was wonderful as always whenever I’m in DC I stop by. Not a fancy inside but it’s clean and kinda reminds you of an older diner. The spicy dust isn’t really spicy it’s kinda salty . The strawberry pineapple lemonade is high addictive. Will be back soon
