Amazing food And friendly staff. Everything was amazing. We got an appetizer combo, papusas and the chicken with green plantains.

The chicken and green plantains is a couple pieces of the best fried chicken you’ve ever had under a bed of slaw and sauce that all rests on a bed of fried plantains. A huge and delicious dish.

I stopped by El Pulgarcito on a rainy afternoon to grab some takeout, and wow—what a hidden gem! We ordered a variety of pupusas (2 shrimp, 1 combination, 2 chicken—some in corn, some in rice), and every single one was absolutely delicious.

The place was packed with locals, which is always a good sign. There’s plenty of parking, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and authentic. What really stood out to us was that no matter the weather or location, people from all walks of life were gathered here, united by one thing—great food.

Prices are incredibly reasonable, making this spot accessible for everyone. They gave us mild salsa and the traditional cabbage slaw (curtido), but I asked for spicy salsa, and it did not disappoint. We also grabbed a horchata, which was the perfect sweet complement to the meal.

Hands down the best Salvadoran restaurant in town. We’ll definitely be back!

The Snapper and the Pupusas are craveable. Space can be a little crowded and is getting a little run down, but the service is quick, portions are large, and the food is great.

On a trip to El Salvador once I had pupusas, and what’s not to love! After returning I tried a handful of local places looking for a replica and this one remains atop the podium. They have wonderful food, atmosphere, and wait staff! You should go through their lineup of salsas too! (They bring everyone 3, but hot tip there are 5. Try them all and prepare for the spiciness that follows!)

I love pupusas and living in Lawrence there are very few places that have them. I ended up in Shawnee and placed a pick up order and fell in love. I have been back one other time already. I really recommend the rice flour pupusas. They have amazing vegetarian options also.

Took my parents here for pupusas I wanted to introduce them to my favorite food (my adoptive parents are not Hispanic) I am deeply disappointed with the service, we waited an hour and 30 mins… for 4 pupusas, 1 tamale, 1 empanada. The server did not check on us once, as a matter of fact she was ignoring us and was way more attentive to the other customers. We tried to politely get someone’s attention, she then said they threw our ticket away and that it’ll be another 25-30min wait. Wouldn’t have even noticed us if we didn’t say anything lol. I came here with my husband and he is Hispanic and we got our food pretty damn quick last time. It was busy as hell too. NEVER COMING BACK!

We were meeting someone at IKEA late at night, and we stepped off the beaten path for a bite. We just wanted some tacos, didn’t know it was a Honduran spot til we read the menu and saw all the beautiful brown women serving there. It was like a hot Latina video shoot. If you want to know where they are hiding; go there. Both of us ordered papusas; fuego! Their Habanero sauce will melt your tongue, the ensalada was pickled perfection. The spot was very warm and friendly, clean and courteous. You want to venture out your typical restaurant of choice, try this spot. We going back, you’ll see after you try it; oh and you’re welcome.

We really enjoyed our dinner! We tried asada tacos, pollo taco, tamale, and the shrimp cocktail. All delicious. The food takes a little longer, but WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

This is one of our top 5 frequented restaurants in the city and well deserved. It’s a true testament to simple food being done exquisitely. The pupusas are awesome, the curtido is perfectly spiced – definitely give this place a try!
