Went to dinner with friends and it was my turn to pick the spot. I picked Antojo, and we were all very pleased with my pick! I haven’t spent quite this much at a restaurant in a long time and it was worth every penny. We got an app to share and then a main, side and 1-2 drinks each. The nacho’s and quesobirria were delicious. We each had rice and beans as a side. It was good, but simple. Was not even needed, we were so full from the rest of the food.
Our main server was very friendly, funny and checked on us multiple times. It was a decently busy place, but we got our drinks and food within reasonable times.
I am glad we booked a reservation, because I was very happy with the booth we got. The place is loud and there is music, but because the tables are spaced properly, you are still able to have a conversation. The lighting is just right and there is lovely decor. I really like the painting/drawling on the brick wall.
We had a good night and it was much needed! Thank you!

Walked in here to get something to eat before a play down the road at Neptune, and was very impressed. Had several different gluten free tacos and they were so amazing (no x-contamination!). Had a jalapeño tequila drink, I can’t remember what it’s called, but it was great. Wife had something similar but it was blood orange.
The place is large yet cozy, atmosphere is very inviting and upbeat, and the staff are wonderful. Even the patrons were nice.
We sat at the bar and the bartender was busy making drinks, taking orders, but was so attentive, friendly, composed and fun to talk to.

Our group of three arrived for dinner at approximately 7 PM, drawn to this location by the decor and welcoming atmosphere on an early February Tuesday evening (taco Tuesday was too tempting to pass up on a cold winters night.)
We were told it was probably going to be a wait for a table, and that it would have to be “outside” in the covered & heated patio area because they were full up inside which seemed reasonable to us. Another group had just finished up in this patio area after our host advised us of the wait, so we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Lucky us!
Server came by promptly enough and we placed our drink and appetizer order. One of our party of three then went inside to use the restroom and came back to advise that they were not full inside and there were still what appeared to be just over half of the seats occupied. We thought perhaps reservations, but we were there for quite some time (more on this later) and did not see more than a handful of people arrive. By the end of our meal we determined that there would have been plenty of room to seat us inside.
Drinks and appetizers came out, and the Guacamole Trio was delightful with a nice mix of seasoning and fairly unique additions (believe one included some diced sour apple which was a nice twist – picture included of the Trio). We made our main course selections: about 10 tacos in total between the three of us and then patiently anticipated tasting our various selections once they arrived.
So we waited. And waited. Other tables around us who ordered after us receiving their meals and yet we waited. We wanted to ask our server if there were any issues with our tacos but he was nowhere to be found. We asked another server who was delivering food if they could check the status and they said they would look into it. We waited. We got up and asked the host if she could look into the status and she said she would look into it. She tracked down our server and he apologized for the wait said he would check with the kitchen. About ten minutes later (about enough time I reckon to make 10 tacos) our food arrived with yet another apology.
The food by that time was underwhelming due to our experience. The Crispy Fish and Chicken Tinga tacos were good, but I was disappointed with the Pork Carnitas and Al Pastor. Both were bland and messy.
We did express our concern with the overall wait and were “compensated” with some trinkets that the server said were “leftovers from their anniversary party” as a form of apology which felt a little like “hey we realize we messed up but here have some stuff we’re probably going to throw out”.
Probably the longest and somewhat chilliest wait for tacos I’ve ever had when we could have been inside, possibly with a different server who wouldn’t (we assume) forget to ring in our order and then disappear for 20-30 minutes.
If I return to Halifax, I will not be returning to this establishment as there are so many other options close by and my experience, as sour as it was, was not as good as the sour apples we were enjoying in our Guacamole at the start of the evening.

At first glance one might dismiss Antojo as a party establishment and you could get drunk here pretty easily with their great selection of (strong!) cocktails and beers.
But we came here for dinner and were surprised to find their tacos extremely delicious and some of them even pretty authentic.

I saw that ”Chinese people do not lie to Chinese people“ in the comments. My friend came to travel from China and had never eaten Mexican food. We walked here. Because I was not familiar with the cuisine, I studied the order for a long time. I conservatively ordered the traditional taco, and my companion ordered others. They are all delicious, and the taste is very good, just like what I ate in Mexico.

I had an amazing experience at Antojo in downtown Halifax! The burrito I ordered was absolutely delicious – fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavour in every bite. The portion was generous without being overwhelming, and everything tasted so authentic and well-prepared.
On top of the great food, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right from start to finish. It’s rare to find a spot that delivers both amazing food and excellent service, but Antojo definitely does.
Highly recommend for anyone craving top-notch Mexican food in the city – I’ll definitely be coming back! ✨

My experience at this Mexican restaurant was wonderful! I ordered quesadillas and nachos. While the quesadillas were a bit disappointing (I’d rate them 3/10), the nachos completely made up for it, honestly the best nachos I’ve ever had in my life! I’ve never tried anything tastier.
The service was also amazing, and the overall experience left a really positive impression. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try, especially for the nachos!

I’ve been coming to this place for years, it is by far my favourite Mexican cuisine. I always have delicious plates and excellent service. When I went on Saturday, it was a while getting my bill and the kitchen put cilantro on all of my food (I can’t eat cilantro bc I have that weird gene) which I was sort of disappointed about. But, it’s the only issue I’ve had going there. Overall amazing food and drink and lovely music!

We had a great experience at Antojo Tacos + Tequila. The food was very good, the margaritas were excellent, and the service was consistently attentive. Our server made sure we always had what we needed and kept our glasses full throughout the meal.
The dark, moody atmosphere inside created a cozy, inviting vibe that made the whole experience even better. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well prepared.
We also learned the owner runs several restaurants around Halifax. We visited The Stubborn Goat Gastropub as well, and it was just as impressive. Clearly they know how to deliver great food and great service across the board. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing! The menu is nicely varied with Mexican fare. I’ve eaten here about a dozen times and it’s never failed me. I opted for the nachos this evening, a first for me at this place, and I thought they served it rather uniquely.
The washrooms are usually in good order. The staff are always friendly and polite. I didn’t think you can go wrong eating here!
