We stopped in at the Old Route 66 Family Restaurant in Dwight, IL, and really enjoyed it. John ordered breakfast and everything came out hot and cooked just right. I had the chicken pizza roll and it was delicious.

The whole place has a nostalgic feel that fits perfectly with Route 66. The decor is fun to look at and the atmosphere is relaxed. They also offer old-fashioned bottled sodas. We tried the root beer and the grape. They tasted good, but they were pricier than we expected and I probably wouldn’t buy them again.

Overall, the food was great and the visit was worth the stop.

5 of us old guys today. Heads up front doors hard to open due to the negative air pressure in the vestibule. Large glasses of OJ. One of us drinks tea and the waitress brought him a little pitcher to allow him to refill. Place was quite not to many people this morning. Food was outstanding. The rye bread toast was much thicker than many other places. The portion sizes were large. I had the 66 skillet. I was very happy. The Decor is pretty cool and they have beer and wine.

We ordered patty melt and stuffed cabbage. The food was good and the service was friendly. It’s a great stop on the way to Chicago! They’re family friendly and I want to come back and try the baked chicken and a milk shake next time.

I love the Route 66 decor. Every surface is adorned with great memorabilia. We order lunch and it cake quickly and was delicious. The hot roll sandwiches were delicious. The service was friendly and quick. Their home made hot sauce is incredible. I bought a bottle to take home.

First time there, average prices, very friendly staff. Very retro motif cool place. I had the special of the night, cod and it was cooked perfect, light breading, thick chucks of cod. Hubby got the gyro roll large portion and he said it was good too.

We had a party of 7. We needed to pay individually. Our orders so complicated that all of us lost tract of what we ordered. The server did an amazing job in trying to keep this together. She was professional, friendly and kept apologising. I gave the food a 4 because I really didn’t eat what I order, I jus took it home. The atmosphere and the decor was outstanding. If I’m ever in the area I will definitely come back.

We really enjoyed our stop here. The comfort food was just what we were looking for—hearty, tasty, and satisfying. The Route 66 décor gave the place a nostalgic charm, and the atmosphere felt welcoming. A great little diner along the Mother Road.

Nice diner. When we’re out of town we try very hard to find local places and avoid chains if we can.
Our waitress was friendly and on top of it. Our food came out FAST and was very good.
Everything was clean, and the decor was perfect. We’ll be back if we come through this way again.

I stopped at Old Route 66 Family Restaurant while driving through Dwight and really enjoyed the cozy, retro vibe inside. The fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cornbread tasted homemade and delicious, though the portions were almost too big for me to finish. Service was friendly and quick, but I wasn’t a big fan of the potatoes—they had a slightly unusual flavor.

The mash potatoes were home made and very good. Their chicken wings were amazing- wonderful thick, crispy breading. The beef vegetable soup was tasty with big chunks of vegetables in it. The cream of chicken soup was very thick and very yellow. The lasagna was alright. The noodles were a bit overcooked and the sauce tasted a bit bland to me. The burger was thick and made with quality beef. I would come back again for their chicken wings and burgers. The service was also timely and friendly.
