I was recommended this place by someone on my cruise ship. It’s actually free to come in. Everything else they charge you for. From the cruise port you’d have to take a cab down here or it’s about an hour walk through town. There’s a lot happening at this place. People from everywhere and try to sell you stuff. You just have to learn to say no, but they’re pretty aggressive.

The place is nice for what it is and you get a table and chairs with the Palapa right by the beach.

The food was not very good. We got the pastor tacos. The meat was dry and not very tasty.

The friendliness of the staff was great.

We were also able to get a full body massage for $25 for an hour

We decided to go to the Krazy Lobster after hearing many good reviews. We were promptly greeted by a KL Rep once we got there. He gave us a quick tour of The KL as he led us to the waiter & his asst. Both were very good w/ their service & attentiveness. They checked on us about every 10 – 15 minutes. The seafood & drinks were as good as promised. My only complaint was the men’s restroom. It needs a little work ( renovation ). Also, 1 of the toilets didn’t flush properly, just spun around. Luckily, I never had to sit down. The beach water was a little disappointing though, but that wasn’t their fault. It might have rained the day before ? Overall, I really liked its relaxing vibe. The seafood & drinks are should be reason enough to come. If not, if you’re into massages, which I’m personally not. THIS IS THE PLACE ! ! ! ! Where else can you get $ 20 massages ? YES ! ! ! I WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN ! ! !

Perfect Beach Day: Ceviche, Free Kayaks, Massages & Great Service

Krazy Lobster was the perfect beach-day spot. The food was great—especially the ceviche, shrimp, tacos, and nachos—and the service was amazing. The beach is literally steps away, with plenty of loungers, free kayaks, and other water activities. There’s also shopping on-site for souvenirs, plus live entertainment.

We also did massages for $25 for an hour and they were very attentive—felt like a steal. Heads up: there may be friendly stray dogs and cats around (they don’t bother anyone), so just note that if you’re not an animal person. Views were beautiful, and transportation to/from the port was only $5 per person each way. Highly recommend!

Had a good time. Staff was busy and it took a while to get service, but very friendly. Lots of vendors soliciting at the tables (we spent $20 on sunglasses, $25 hair braids, $10 seashell bracelet, +tips for performers). Beach area was nice and spacious and lots of wading room, although became crowded quick. Prices were reasonable, and we spent $52 on lunch for 4 people ($8 of which on sodas). Spent about 1 hour in the water and 1 hour eating and relaxing in the shade. Glad we gave it a try.

Stopped by The Krazy Lobster in Costa Maya today, and let me tell you… I am emotionally attached now. The staff deserves an award, a raise, and possibly their own Netflix show. Everyone was so friendly and helpful that I briefly considered applying for a job just to stay.

Our waiter Paco was a total rockstar — super friendly, handled everything like a pro, and somehow knew what we needed before we even said it. Later, I got a massage from Oscar, and I’m pretty sure he unlocked muscles I haven’t used since middle school PE class. Phenomenal is an understatement.

We also met Mauricio, the manager, who guided us to the perfect beachside seats like he was hosting a travel show. We got sun, water, and front-row access to peak vacation energy. Oh — and yes, there were vendors and actual iguanas. Not just “see-from-a-distance” iguanas… “pose-like-you’re-in-a-National-Geographic-episode” iguanas.

When it was time to go, the staff personally walked us to a taxi like they were sending their children off to college — making sure we got back to port and didn’t accidentally start a new life on the beach (which honestly… tempting).

If you come to Costa Maya and don’t go to The Krazy Lobster, I’m not saying you’re making a mistake… but I am saying you’re missing out on a top-tier tropical life moment.

Excellent service. It’s a little confusing, so you have a guide from then moment you step out the taxi. Its crowded and the beach is small, but the service is fantastic and the food was awesome

We came to Krazy Lobster right after getting off our cruise, and it was such a great spot to spend the day! What I loved most was that you can use their paddleboards, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrellas, and Wi-Fi as long as you dine in. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, and the staff was very welcoming.

If you’re visiting the area, I recommend bringing U.S. dollars, as they don’t always have a working ATM and that’s the main currency they accept. The taxi from the port is $5 per person each way, and you can also use their showers and bathrooms free of charge.

Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in port!

Went here when our cruise ship had to make a last minute stop in Costa Maya instead of another port. We got recommended it by someone on the ship and we were not disappointed!

It’s only a 8ish min taxi ride from the cruise port, which only cost us $5 a person. When we got there, someone who worked there was waiting at the side of the road to give us an info pamphlet and lead us inside. Make no mistake it’s not a fancy beach club, but it’s part of the charm!

Drinks were cheap compared to the ship and main port area, and they offered massages right on the beach for $25 for 1 hour, and we very much enjoyed them! All the amenities were free, including shaded seating, beach chairs right on the water, and while we didn’t utilize them, apparently there are free lockers and beach gear.

The main problem with beaches here seems to be seaweed, but here at the Krazy Lobster, it wasn’t much of a problem! They had barriers set up so that their piece of the beach was relatively clear.

I’ve noticed many people saying that vendors are annoying and persistent, but honestly this wasn’t our experience. Do note that our ship wasn’t expected in port until a couple days before docking, so this may have made a difference? But a couple vendors would come to our table to show some wares and we would say no, and they would quickly and politely leave.

Overall the staff were very friendly and always happy to help. No complaints here.

In terms of food, we usually eat before and after a port on the ship to avoid spending money, but we decided to spend a bit here since it’s all such a good price and we were getting a good vibe. We got the beef nachos, and we’re not disappointed! Ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was fair for a $12 plate.

And one of the best parts is that it wasn’t too busy. Of the people who were there, it was a healthy mix of tourists from the boat, and locals, which made me feel like it was a well kept secret oasis.

Bottom line, would 100% recommend making the visit out if you’re looking for something to do while in this port!
