The place is nice for what it is and you get a table and chairs with the Palapa right by the beach.
The food was not very good. We got the pastor tacos. The meat was dry and not very tasty.
The friendliness of the staff was great.
We were also able to get a full body massage for $25 for an hour
Krazy Lobster was the perfect beach-day spot. The food was great—especially the ceviche, shrimp, tacos, and nachos—and the service was amazing. The beach is literally steps away, with plenty of loungers, free kayaks, and other water activities. There’s also shopping on-site for souvenirs, plus live entertainment.
We also did massages for $25 for an hour and they were very attentive—felt like a steal. Heads up: there may be friendly stray dogs and cats around (they don’t bother anyone), so just note that if you’re not an animal person. Views were beautiful, and transportation to/from the port was only $5 per person each way. Highly recommend!
Great day spent while we were sailing on Harmony of the Seas.
$5pp taxi ride from right outside port each way.
Mango margaritas was very good.
Guacamole excellent
Excellent service.
Great day
Our waiter Paco was a total rockstar — super friendly, handled everything like a pro, and somehow knew what we needed before we even said it. Later, I got a massage from Oscar, and I’m pretty sure he unlocked muscles I haven’t used since middle school PE class. Phenomenal is an understatement.
We also met Mauricio, the manager, who guided us to the perfect beachside seats like he was hosting a travel show. We got sun, water, and front-row access to peak vacation energy. Oh — and yes, there were vendors and actual iguanas. Not just “see-from-a-distance” iguanas… “pose-like-you’re-in-a-National-Geographic-episode” iguanas.
When it was time to go, the staff personally walked us to a taxi like they were sending their children off to college — making sure we got back to port and didn’t accidentally start a new life on the beach (which honestly… tempting).
If you come to Costa Maya and don’t go to The Krazy Lobster, I’m not saying you’re making a mistake… but I am saying you’re missing out on a top-tier tropical life moment.
If you’re visiting the area, I recommend bringing U.S. dollars, as they don’t always have a working ATM and that’s the main currency they accept. The taxi from the port is $5 per person each way, and you can also use their showers and bathrooms free of charge.
Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in port!
It’s only a 8ish min taxi ride from the cruise port, which only cost us $5 a person. When we got there, someone who worked there was waiting at the side of the road to give us an info pamphlet and lead us inside. Make no mistake it’s not a fancy beach club, but it’s part of the charm!
Drinks were cheap compared to the ship and main port area, and they offered massages right on the beach for $25 for 1 hour, and we very much enjoyed them! All the amenities were free, including shaded seating, beach chairs right on the water, and while we didn’t utilize them, apparently there are free lockers and beach gear.
The main problem with beaches here seems to be seaweed, but here at the Krazy Lobster, it wasn’t much of a problem! They had barriers set up so that their piece of the beach was relatively clear.
I’ve noticed many people saying that vendors are annoying and persistent, but honestly this wasn’t our experience. Do note that our ship wasn’t expected in port until a couple days before docking, so this may have made a difference? But a couple vendors would come to our table to show some wares and we would say no, and they would quickly and politely leave.
Overall the staff were very friendly and always happy to help. No complaints here.
In terms of food, we usually eat before and after a port on the ship to avoid spending money, but we decided to spend a bit here since it’s all such a good price and we were getting a good vibe. We got the beef nachos, and we’re not disappointed! Ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was fair for a $12 plate.
And one of the best parts is that it wasn’t too busy. Of the people who were there, it was a healthy mix of tourists from the boat, and locals, which made me feel like it was a well kept secret oasis.
Bottom line, would 100% recommend making the visit out if you’re looking for something to do while in this port!
