We like Steak N Shake because the fast food prices have gotten out of hand and this is one of the few places that isn’t too high. When we walked in we were greeted by the kitchen staff. We ordered at the kiosk and headed over to get our drink and a young man asked us if we knew how to use the soda machine. You need to scan the QR code to get the machine to work so don’t forget to grab that receipt when you use the kiosk! The same young man brought the food to our table instead of calling it out like they usually do. One thing I also noticed was the floor was not sticky! The floor usually is sticky or greasy on past visits. Our food was hot and fresh and it tasted like the fry oil was new. We were asked if our meal was good by two employees. They came around the dining room and got the trays and baskets from diners. If they ran this restaurant like this all of the time, I could see it doing well. We have never received this level of service. But if they want to compete with Shake Shack going in next door, they better up their game and keep the service like this. Not sure why the change in customer service but I hope it stays. On this particular trip, Philip M was the shining star of our visit.

While I realize things are becoming more automated these days this just goes TOO FAR! They have no registers, only kiosks to order and pay for your food. Amazingly after I did all the work myself it asked me to add a tip! For what?!?! We also had to fill our own drinks and bus our own tables. Just what would I be tipping for? Bathrooms were also in serious need of cleaning.
Food was good though! But to be honest not good enough for me to come back here. Just not impressed.

If you want a soulless experience, and to not be bothered, this is definitely the place for you.
The food is still good, but I won’t visit this location again. I remember when there were servers, with a hands on experience from the staff – when no matter what time if the day I came in, even over night, there were customers, many. Now, the dining room is usually empty… Nobody to take your order – even at the counter – you place it on a device… Your order is then placed on a counter counter, name called over the loud speaker, and then they are gone. Employees don’t even make sure with you that there’s nothing else you need… A $16, one meal order and, not even somebody to make your non-refillable drink, with a qr code to scan in order to get your drink, that puts an exact amount and then stops, and you can’t restart it…
And the system has the gall to ask for a tip… if the very few employees they carry aren’t getting paid enough, then that’s on the company.
It’s too bad that the extremely few times I’ve been here over the past 5 years or so, have been so extremely uncomfortable.
I keep hoping that something would change… but I won’t any more. Today was my final Frisco burger, at least from this location…

Really great burgers. I was surprised actually. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a steak and shake. And I don’t know if it’s all in my head, but I feel like the beef tallow fries are truly tastier.
I find it exciting that they are accepting Bitcoin for payment too.

Another Great in American History reduced to a Kiosk.. I’ll give the staff at the grill kudos for saying “hello welcome in”.. Even the drink fountain is kiosk receipt activated. . I’m genuinely crushed by this experience… luckily the food was hot, fresh, quick, and service was friendly.

Service has gone downhill. No one greets you and you have to get everything yourself. You have to order from an automated kiosk system, then seat yourself. No server at the tables or counter service, and you have to pick up your order from the window when it’s ready. Staff do not speak to customers at all. The whole place is dirty: lobby, tables, floor, bathrooms, drink area. It takes a while to get your meal, despite very few or no customers. The garlic steakburger and shoestring fries still have the same delicious taste, and the shakes are very good. Doesn’t feel like much of a restaurant when you have to get everything yourself and try to catch an employee’s attention when you need something. The old fashioned diner vibe that made the place special is gone, and it’s no longer 24 hour. Steak ‘n Shake is just another hamburger joint.

We tried this place one evening for dinner. We were greeted by Steven and Phil as soon as we entered. It had been awhile since we had been to a Steak n Shake. Phil guided us through the ordering process and made sure we were ordering exactly what we wanted. Once we finished ordering we sat down. Steven came by and asked if we needed any condiments or napkins. Steven brought us our napkins and condiments, a few minutes later Steven brought out our food. Steven and Phil check on us to make sure we were enjoying our experience. We found the restaurant clean as were the restrooms. The building is older and a little worn down from use but was very clean. We found that the employees were very friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection and was so delicious. The shakes were fantastic. We will be returning again and again.

I’ve been ordering here for nearly 10+ years now and I can say I have never once been disappointed or dissatisfied with their service or food. Today I was blown away by whoever the cook was! I ordered a garlic steakburger with medium French fries and a Nutella shake, the order came out right as I arrived which was a pleasant surprise (I had ordered online!) And I can safely say that it’s one of the best meals I have ever had the experience of tasting. The burger was savory and buttery, I added lettuce and tomato which totally upped the flavor experience and helped tone the salt on the burger down to the perfect level. It was absolutely delicious, this burger was definitely unlike any other burger despite trying everything on their menu. Whoever prepared my meal did incredible, thank you!

The food here is great I’ll give them that. But let me tell you. I work a lot so I frequently use Uber Eats. This restaurant will cancel my order and then accept it when I place it again. Almost like if to mess with me. Maybe it’s a glitch so I resort to going in person. One day they tell me they have no internet so only accepting cash. What is this??? The stone ages??? Very next day. These people tell me they aren’t accepting Apple Pay. In big 2025. Steak and shake isn’t accepting Apple Pay? Unacceptable.
