Don’t order off the online menu from website they say it’s an old menu and prices are about $3 difference. Food is good when you sit and eat and so is service. They also charge a card fee they tell you about when they give you total.. and the lady that runs cash register in fort Scott is always snappy and rude. My order based off online menu with tax should’ve be 16.79 at register it was 20.45
Update your online or honor the price and be polite.

Very friendly and comfortable Mexican restaurant. The menu has a very good selection of items and the prices are reasonable. I’ve tried several different dishes and they have all been good with generous portions. The staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable about the menu selections.
Plenty of free parking with handicap accessible parking, entrances and restrooms.

I thought I was having a good day until I came in here. My thermometer read that it was 89 degrees indoors. I think they were using some kind of reactor to cook their food. Everything was so good, the waiter was super nice and helpful, and he even spoke Spanish!!!! But I just wish I packed my window unit AC in to put on our table. I ate a half a pound (scrumptious) burrito but lost 2 pounds eating it in a sauna. I plan on coming back at least twice a week but I’ll have to wear a kilt and bring my own ac

Great food. Our server Christian was great. I’m a disabled veteran and ride a mobility scooter. They made accommodations for me. Prices were also great! If we’re ever back in Fort Scott, we’ll definitely come back. Highly recommend.

My wife and I dropped into El Charro with appetites ready for comfort and flavor. I ordered the birria tacos—something that should arrive rich, savory, and dripping with character. She went with a beef enchilada and a chile relleno. Unfortunately, the food landed with more of a thud than a flourish.
The birria tacos had all the appearance of the real deal, but the flavor never quite showed up. Her enchilada and relleno were equally underwhelming—textbook Mexican fare, but with the personality dialed down to zero. The salsa was bland, more of an afterthought than an opener, and the “hot sauce” was basically a puree of chili peppers: painfully hot, but hollow, like fire without smoke.
Then came the beans. A humble side dish turned into a head-scratcher, with what looked suspiciously like hot dog slices mixed in. Maybe it’s tradition somewhere, but for us, it was more confusing than comforting. The chips, though? Crisp and satisfying, easily the best bite outside of the drinks.
To their credit, the service was solid—polite, attentive, no issues there. And just when the night felt like a complete miss, the margaritas came in to save the day. Balanced, refreshing, and priced right, they were the one thing that lived up to expectation. Even better, they’ll hand them to you to-go, which felt like the truest victory of the evening.
In short: El Charro is a place where the margaritas wear the crown while the food limps along in their shadow. Come for the drinks and chips, stay for the friendly service, but don’t expect fireworks on the plate.

Passing through we decided to stop and get something to eat. We live just 35 miles from Fort Scott and live Mexican food. So we walked in was seated promptly and the waiter walked up
And looked at us without saying a thing, I am guessing he wanted our drink order without saying a word. Gave him a drink order and he promptly brought them. We waited a bit to order food and felt pressured to order immediately. I ordered a #6 combo and the wife ordered nachos. The burrito and enchilada were nothing but dried out, very lightly (and I mean lightly) seasoned hamburger meat wrapped into a tortilla with no signs that it was warmed or cooked. Waiter was constantly walking by and never bothered to check on us. And I wasn’t sure if I should have said anything. His appearance was a little scary. Would not recommend and will not stop again.
