Made reservations for New Years Day dinner. Ordered the French onion soup to start, which was delicious. Ordered the duck special of the day and the three course meal deal for $35 which included an appetizer (we got the eggs) plate (the truffle pasta) and desert (the chocolate mousse). Everything was delicious. The foie gras was delicious. Our drinks were delicious too, though on the smaller side and a bit expensive compared to where else we’ve gone in Montreal. We left and agreed this is one of the best meals we’ve each had. The place is very small so I recommend a reservation.

My husband and I stumbled upon Foiegwa while researching breakfast places in Montreal, and we’re so glad we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 10:00 AM on a Sunday, and the restaurant was about half full, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

After looking through the menu, my husband ordered the smoked duck Benedict, while I chose “Le Foiegwa Slam”, paired with a freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.

Let me tell you, the pancake was spectacular. Perfectly fluffy, rich in flavor, and absolutely delicious. It was hands down one of the best pancakes I’ve had in a long time. The entire plate was well-balanced. My husband also really enjoyed his smoked duck Benedict, which was flavorful and well executed.

Honestly, this meal alone felt worth the visit to Montreal. We’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a breakfast or brunch experience.

Cozy and stylish place to dine in. Foiegwa was recommended by a few of my close friends who had great things to say about the menu items.

A few of us chose la table d’hôte which is great for those who come here for the first time and would like to taste a bit of everything, while I ordered the homemade truffle spaghetti with oysters on the side. The oysters were slightly too salty in my opinion. The pasta was impeccable and we had to make sure everyone tried it!!

We also ordered their cocktails, the Mariposa (the drink on the left) was delightful

Came here for mtl a la table with a friend. We got the foie gras with toasted bread, shrimp cocktail, and tartare (a la carte). The foie gras was heavy as expected and could use more bread and jam to balance out the fat. The shrimp cocktail was pretty ordinary. The tartare was not seasoned enough and beef was really chewy. For our mains, my friend got the duck breast which came with a side of brown rice for some reason and it was undercooked. I ordered their popular pasta with truffle and egg yolk. For dessert, we chose the chocolate mousse and tarte tatin.i was impressed by the chocolate mousse. It had a lovely texture, not too airy and not too sweet. The tarte tatin would have been better warm and with ice cream. It was a disappointing thin layer of apples and a cracker base. The service was amazing, you have to meet Alex. She’s so bubbly and friendly! Overall it was a nice restaurant to try once.

Honestly, what an amazing place. Had a great time. Great selection on the menu, cozy and intimate. the food was amazing and the drinks were pretty nice. I would out this on my top 10 places, surely because of how nice and cozy it was. I will definitely go again. a must visit

Cannot go wrong with truffle and pasta, superior combo. My friend doesn’t like truffle and he gave this pasta a 10/10. Fries were also hugeeee and oh so good

I’m honestly really disappointed with my brunch experience at Foiegwa today. My fiancé and I came here back in the summer of 2023 and had such an incredible meal that it stuck with us for years.

For my birthday brunch this November (2025), I decided to order the same thing — the chicken and waffles — but what came out was a totally different experience. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and served in small nugget-like pieces instead of the full, juicy portions they used to make. The waffles were also dry and lifeless, missing the balance and flavor that made the original dish special. For $25, it really felt like a downgrade. Thankfully, I added potatoes on the side — they ended up being the best part of the meal.

Photos attached: 2023 vs 2025 — the difference speaks for itself.
I’m giving 3 stars because not every dish here is bad (I’ve tried both brunch and dinner), but seeing how much this signature plate has changed makes me realize it’s not worth the hype anymore. I really hope the kitchen revisits what once made their food great.

(UPDATE: January 2026)

Foiegwa used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but unfortunately the drop in quality has become increasingly noticeable.

I went to Foiegwa several times in 2025 and had consistently good experiences. The space is charming and beautiful, and the service is usually above average (and yes, the staff is undeniably good-looking — keep that part going).

In early January, I went for brunch and was surprised by what seemed like a reduced portion. My eggs benedict arrived with only one egg on the bread. I pointed this out to the server, since the menu clearly says “eggs,” not “egg,” and everyone else at the table received two. An extra poached egg was brought to me — which I appreciated — but the situation still left me uncomfortable.

For dessert, I ordered pancakes, which were burnt in my opinion. I’ve attached a photo so you can judge for yourselves.

A few days later, I came back for dinner and, unfortunately, didn’t know that the late-night menu previously offered at $25.99 was no longer available. The food itself was good, but after these two experiences, I no longer feel that the value for money is as strong as it used to be.

Excellent food, portion size, environment and staff. There’s no “bad choice” in their menu, everything seems to be delicious, I’ve been there 4 times and every single experience I had was good.

I’ve heard about Foiegwa since forever and finally tried it for the Mtrl a table event.

First of all, the service was so warm and friendly. Professional while not pretentious. I felt we were really a regular at a neighbourhood restaurant even though it was our first time here.

Food was delicious. Fair portions. Well balanced in flavours except for the pasta which was a bit salty.

Atmosphere was casual and cozy. Great for a date night.

Would definitely come back again. We kinda fell in love with that spot. Wish brunch took reservations!

I went here with my friends for brunch and we had a good time. The food was good. Lots of sea food options but limited in other areas. We ordered several dishes. It was a bit greasy but I liked the taste. The drinks were great!

Serve was very nice and friendly. The staff greeted us, led us to our seats and kept checking on us.

I took a picture of our food and shared it below.

After our meal it took a while to get the bill so that wait was a bit annoying.
