There were four of us, and after much discussion, math, and disappointment, we collectively rated the food a solid 2.3 out of 5. Two of the meals were crimes against expectations.
I ordered the Chili Verde Nacho Macho. Spoiler alert: it was neither chili verde nor macho. I asked for no jalapeños and no crema (which they did respect), but what they slapped on top and called chili verde was… a mystery meat situation. Chili verde is supposed to be beautiful chunks of pork swimming in a green sauce. This was more like “green-ish regret.” It didn’t look like chili verde, didn’t taste like chili verde, and honestly felt personally insulting. Do not recommend.
Another person ordered ribs and wings and said they were great. Which… okay. But how hard is it to throw meat into BBQ sauce and call it a day?
A third person ordered a different kind of nachos and actually enjoyed them. So yes, miracles do happen here.
The fourth meal was a shredded pork sandwich, which was described as “pretty disgusting.” He powered through about half before giving up, which was probably the sandwich’s best-case scenario.
Our waitress wasn’t great. She had strong “you should be grateful I showed up” energy and seemed very confident she deserved a great tip. We disagreed—but still tipped, because we’re decent people with guilt.
Then we moved to the bar, where things improved. The bartender was fast, efficient, friendly, and clearly holding that place together with pure willpower. Big shout-out to the bar staff.
Unfortunately, the bar area is insanely crowded. There’s barely room to breathe, let alone walk. When there’s a band, the place turns into a human game of Tetris. If there were a fire, I’m fairly certain we’d all just accept our fate. I’m not saying it’s a fire-code issue… but I’m also not not saying that.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be going back—but hey, maybe you’ll have better luck than we did. Bring snacks. And an exit plan.
Get there early for parking, free entry, and first dibs on the pool tables. Such a vibe. I’ll definitely be back!
Cocktails aren’t the best and overly sweet and the food is just regular bar food but large portions. Service at the bar is good, servers not “on it”. Missing many opportunities to serve more drinks and make more $. Having to flag down your server most times isn’t fun or sitting around hoping someone walks by isn’t either. Crowd is mixed bag of people and mostly “older”. If your going it’s for the scenery more than anything.
We love coming to Hog Wallow Pub! This time, we ordered the basket of sweet potato fries—perfectly crispy with a mouth-watering, addicting dipping sauce. I had the blueberry mint fizz, which was refreshing and delicious. My partner enjoyed the Kittos Amber, a smooth and high-quality amber beer.
We’ve also tried the French dip on a previous visit and it was excellent. The shaded outdoor patio with misters and a small water feature adds to the laid-back charm. The music was enjoyable without being too loud, making it a great spot to relax.
A huge shoutout to our server, Brandy—she was fast, friendly, and attentive. The pub is 21+ and can get pretty busy during live music nights, but they have a good parking lot and plenty of street parking nearby for those busier times. Overall, a fantastic local spot for good food, drinks, and atmosphere
This place is open during the day too so if you just want to cruise by and have a little snack or whatever it’s a chill place to talk and hang out in the day.
